The Vet Says She Is Healthy, But She Seems To Be Getting Skinnier Eveyday...she Is Getting Taller Though. I Feed Her Nutro Puppy Food...does Anyone Have Some Advise On What I Should Do Or Look Out For.thanks

Hi kjcoco -

Have you thought of switching her to a higher quality food? www.boxerworld.com/feeding has some great information on choosing a good quality food. Nutro puppy is better than some brands out there, but all in all it is considered a mid-range food at best :)

You can do a search here on "premium kibbles" to come up with specific suggestions. Many people seem to like the following high quality kibbles:

Innova
Canidae
Chicken Soup
Wellness
Solid Gold
Merrick

Good luck. Please keep in mind that Boxers are a lean breed (and a slow maturing breed). You should always be able to see at least the last few ribs on the Boxer. They will typically look lanky and thin until about 2 years of age :)

That Makes Me Feel So Much Better...she Is A Happy Baby And Seems Very Healthy, I Was Just Worried About Her Weight. I Am Going To Switch To A Premium Food...i Was Thinking Merrick Or Canidae.

Thanks Again

My Hercules is 15 weeks and is 20lbs. We can see his ribs and appears quite skinny, but his vet said he's healthy. i worry as well, but I hear boxer babies are a skinny bunch.

Bear in mind also that it is far far better for a puppy to be thin than ever to be chubby. One of the worst things you can ever do for a pup is overfeed it. Sadly, it's very common - we like to see round puppies, but they're not actually meant to be that way and making them so can have life-long ill effects. If your vet is telling you that she's just fine, then believe it ;)

As long as you're feeding a good quality food to your pup, then don't worry about her weight. She's best off lean, and will probably remain that way until about 2-3 years old. If you try too much to fatten her up, you'll probably just end making her grow too fast.
