Boxer Pal
Hi,
I was just wondering if this is a common trait of these crazy little creatures :) .......When we have company over, Zoe is sure that they are coming to visit her, greeting them with slobbery wet kisses and of course some hugs:p But when they get ready to leave she gets CRAZY, she jumps on them and recently she has started to grab the cuff of their coat or shirt, like she doesnt want them to leave. She doesnt bite the person or tear the clothing, she just grabs them:confused: anyone else????

Ella does this with us when we are getting ready in the morning and to my son at the bus stop when she knows he is getting ready to get on the bus.
Some say they are initiating play but I also think boxers are so close to little humans that they know their friends are leaving and try and keep them to stay. Ella pulls my socks off if I'm not fast enough while trying to put them on.:D

I read in "The Dog Listener" about a dog who would nip at people as their hand was going for the door. In the book the situation was that the dog felt as though he was the alpha in the home and responsible for the comings and goings of the people in his "den." It may be that your dog is trying to correct you (or your guests and kids) in order to pervent you for leaving the den and essentially embarking on possible danger. If you dog is grabbing at people with his mouth it may escalte to the point where he feels a simple nip is not enough to get your attention. I am absolutely not an expert, but I would suggest picking up a copy of this very easy read and seeing if you dog demonstates other alpha traits. Just a suggestion... :)
