My 3 month I believe has some separation anxiety. I have read about Comfort Zone and was wondering if anyone else has heard anything about it or has tried it themselves. Whenever I leave her alone, even for less than 30 minutes, I come home and she is SOAKED, her legs, face, and neck. It is odorless, so it is obviously slobber. I know that she is digging at her crate when she is in there. Also, I kept her in the kitchen today with my other dog and she was doing the same thing. I've recorded her on a voice recorder and she barks most of the time. Any advice would be helpful!!

I haven't tried Comfort Zone, but Rowdy used to do that when I left, even after I had conditioned him to the crate. It only lasted about a month - but yes, he would be covered in drool and be howling away. Just give it a little more time - practice putting her in there with something yummy like a Kong with peanut butter and leave the room/house for a few then come back. Don't make a big fuss when you come or go and just watch that she's not actually hurting herself. Good luck, she'll be used to it in no time. ;)

I have not tried Comfort Zone either but I totally agree with the advice of ehayes21. Start very small, leave her in the crate, and go in the other room, then come back. Never making a big deal about coming or going. When you come home, dont even say hi or look at her for the first five minutes. That was the hardest thing to do when we had a little adorable puppy sitting in the crate, but it was worth it bc we have no seperation anxiety issues now. Make her going in the crate and you coming and going very nonchalant. Next time, leave the house for five seconds then come back...then 10 seconds, then a minute. She will eventually learn that you leave and you come back, no big deal AND she gets a yummy treat each time.

Thank you for your replies, I will start to work on that today. Hopefully she'll get better because I feel awful leaving her and then coming home to a soaked puppy!

i know how you feel. I was so crazy when we first got tyler that i bought a webcam to see how he reacted in the crate when we left. He cried alot and it made me so upset. It wont work the first time or the second. But, after a while of trying to desensitize her to the crate and being left alone, hopefully, things get better. Keep us posted.

No doubt about that, I know it's hard! With the suggestions you've been given, I'm sure she'll adapt in no time! Good luck! ;)

I've seen mixed results with the Comfort Zone. It seems that it either works really well or totally not at all. I know that's really helpful! ;) It might be worth trying if you don't mind spending the money on it because it really could make a big difference, but there's just no way to know that for sure. Even if you do try it and it seems to help, I'd still go about working your dog through her separation anxiety.
