collar sizes

I am wondering the average colloar size full grown boxers are in, I keep buying collars for my Roxy but have no idea what her final size will be, any ideas? Especially those who have boxer mixed pups, mine is boxer and lab mix.

I always bought the type of collar you can adjust. When we first got her she wore a cat collar, now she is in a collar that adjusts to 20". I never spend that much money on their "growing" collars. As far as how big the neck would be I wouldn't think it would be bigger than 20" but I could be wrong. We have a pretty large German Shepherd and her neck is in between 20" and 25". Piper is my second boxer, but my first boxer was stolen so she didn't quite make it to full size, but at 8 months her neck was about 17".

but I am finding so many cute collars and wondering how many of them will be "keepers"- plus there are some higher priced collars I would like to get for her but have no idea what size to get, I want them to be keepers not just growing collars.
I can see myself having a collar "fetish", I guess it would be like a girls shoe collection and really, her collars should match my shoes and purse- right?! LOL

Well if it's a fetish then I would keep the collars that are 20" or better. I try to stay away from too many accessories because if I do I would have everything in sight!I have trouble not buying things for my skin kids, so I try to stay away from the petstores unless I know that we need something. Then I walk out of there with $50.00 to $80.00 worth of things.

How old is Roxy?
My girl Scout, also a Boxer Lab mix, is 15 months old and on her 4th or 5th collar...I've lost count. She now has an adjustable collar that is a little big for her but I really liked this one so I got it for her to grow into. Right now her neck size is around 18" even with all that floppy extra (velvety) skin.
If you're going to go for "keepers", I'd be aiming for something over 18".

really? That big huh?

I don't why that suprises me- her neck measures 14 right now, she is in a 14-16" buckly style collar. Man, that means I will have to have her swarovski collar special ordered, that will be some dough there.

I walked out of the store yesterday with 3 outfits, a new collar and I.D. tag to match, you don't even want to know about my 3 skin kids closets- it's bad, gap kids, childrens place, target- they love me and I am sure the local pet stores will learn to also! LOL

Now, if I want to get one of the gentle leader jobs, what size do I get, one that fits her now or full grown?

I would wait if you are going to buy a NICE collar. We bought a "dress" collar for Dillon when he was little. I was going to get the medium because he is supposed to be a medium breed dog, but listened to my DH saying, no way, he will be way bigger than that, so I got the large. Needless to say, it's still in the closet and doesn't fit him, yet. He's 15 months now and I have a feeling I'm going to have to take the collar to a shoe maker to get another couple notches in it if I'm ever going to be albe to get him to wear it.

We purchased a puppy collar for Sam, which he is quickly outgrowing. I plan on just buying interim collars until he's fully grown and then get him a couple of nice collars.

Does anyone put decorative bandanas on their dogs? My husband hates them, but I think they look so nice!

Coach Collars!?!

Has anyone ever seen a Coach collar? I've seen them on eBay & OMG I want to get one for Romie SO bad! They seem to be a lot cheaper on eBay than anywhere else.

I've had the same problem with sizes though- I just have those tiny, cheap, adjustable one from Wal-Mart for Romie b/c I'm afraid to buy her one that won't fit. I bought her a harness last weekend & figured surely a Medium would fit a 4 month old puppy, but I guess she is too busty b/c it wouldn't fit....like mother, like daughter I guess!! HAHAHA I guess maybe I'll have to take her to PetSmart with me & try a few on!

I'll have to when I have a few hours of free time- yea right! LOL

If you get one off ebay just make sure its the real deal, I have been taken on items saying they are a brand name but ended up being junk.
