The vet and staff tell you that with a straight face.......and after you walk out the door they fall down laughing cuz they know it's just 'bout impossible with a Boxer puppy!
After Mack's neuter and a few hours of trying to keep him "quiet" the next day - we quickly decided it was in everyone's best interest to take him for controlled leash walks to dissipate some of that Boxer puppy energy.
Walking is better than lunging and jumping....sigh.

I remember when Markus was neutered and as he had an undescended testicle it was more like a spay, we were told to keep him quite and that he shouldn't go up and down stairs. Yah Right. We lived on the second floor and the only way up was stairs. He was way to heavy to carry. So he walked up and down the stairs, we just tried to get him to do it slowly. I recall Markus dragging the vet down the hall when I went to pick him up. Keep him quiet they said. Ha Ha!

Clover's Mom

Poor, poor baby Clover

So as I posted yesterday it was back to the vet and Clover got a cone put on her head and her stitches redone...today I came home from work at 9am (only worked 3 hours) and tried to keep Clover as calm as possible...well I kept noticing she look uncomfortable, waiting until dh got home, called vet, they said to bring her in. Well she pulled her stitches, not alot, but just enough to cause the bottom portion to start leaking, and the possiblity to open further...so even thought I feel so very sorry for her, I have to laugh, they wrapped her upper tummy with a bandage, then put something like a butterfly bandage, padding, gauze, and then wrapped gauze all around her lower belly and bottom, and put a pink sticky bandage (hot pink, none the less) around that to keep it to stay, and she has a new cone, bigger and clear. And she is not happy, pretty much just slept most of the evening, I keep worrying that she can't breath, because she keeps weezing, and that the cone is cutting into her neck, but dh thinks I'm being tooo over protective. Just looking at her I want to cry and laugh, she looks so silly, but when you look into those brown boxer eyes they look so sad!!!! :( I took pictures, couldn't help myself...pretty sure Clover will be embarrased. I'll try to post them tomorrow. Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Completely Boxer Crazy
Delilah is more active than our other two boxers. She recently was spayed, and much to my surprise, she took it slower on her own. It has now been 10 days. She is doing fine. I did get a little concerned about her because we couldn't get her to eat after the surgery. She started eating after a few days. I had to entice her with treats at first to get her appetite flowing. Now she is back to normal, eating, drinking, and being fiesty. Not only she is the most active boxer that we have, she is tiny, and she is fiesty. Good luck!

A long, long Sunday

Ugg - I can tell the next week has to get better. Today my dh wanted to take a drive to Santa Barbara, so I thought no problem Clover usualy sleeps in the car, we won't be walking around much, and it will get her out of the house. Well she was being a little snot about having her cone on her head, so I decided to get into the back seat, take it off, and watch her like a hawk, and she went right to sleep. Well somehow she got a BIG hole in her bandage, and the "stuffing" looked like it was going to fall out. DH's big idea was to go to a drug store and get gauze and tape and a badage and just fix it for the time being...thought it couldn't hurt. So we did, and it didn't do so well - we happened to find a Vet ER, go in, and $200 later Clover now has 3 staples, they just wanted to be sure, said it looked a little red and swollen *(the stuffing was stuck a little on her incision) so she is on meds to make sure it doesn't get infected...but here is the kicker, they had to literaly rip off the upper ace bandage (we didn't take it off because it was suck to her fur and we didn't want to hurt her, it was an "anchor" for the gauze and hot pink gauze), and poor Clover, I swear she started to cy, made me cry - she has sticky stuff all in her fur, and almost all the hair on her tummy was ripped off along with the bandage. And awww man does it look painful. Anything, like aloe I can put on there, I'm sure it's burning...just like when you get a wax done. So now her poor tummy has stitches and staples and NO hair. She is so depressed!!! Sleeps all the time, can't really play because of the cone on her head....I feel so bad. Well thanks for letting me vent a little...going to go hold my baby now and try to make her feel as comfortable as she possibly can!

My pup got nuetered last friday. The vet said the stitches are inside and that we just need to make sure he doesn't lick to much. He said to try to keep him mellow and have him rest. YEAH Right. the next day he is jumping around running up and down the stairs. What can I do. This orning the wound looked a little red and of course the vet is closed. So my wife bought a cone thingy for his head. Hopefully the cone will hold him off till tomorrow so we can see what the vet has to say.
