I usually scrape them with a butter knife and then clean them by hand using a toothbrush. If my husband forgets to about the treat he gave Nestle, it needs some soaking.
When I change toothbrushes every three months I use the old ones to clean out Beasley's Kongs. You can also put them in the dishwasher on the top rack - and the water temp of the dishwasher will also kill any bacteria inside.
