Post Surgery Update

Bossk seems to be doing really well since his surgery. He started eating after we got him home and today he wants to explore a bit. I've been giving him his pain meds to keep him comfortable and to help him rest. He's so active I'm afraid without them he'll do too much and hurt himself.

Unfortunately, the vet thinks he may have lymphoma or hemangiosarcoma. The pathology on his tumor hasn't came back yet, so we don't know for sure, but they must have had some indication to suspect.

I've been researching on-line a bit, but it's difficult because I start crying. It's so hard to realize the end may be so close. Bossk is like my first child and it will hard to let him go.

I don't know about chemotherapy. With either cancer, it doesn't seem offer much time, especially when it reaches the stage Bossk's is probably in. I still hold on to small hope that it won't be cancer and I won't even have to worry about it.

It's so deceiving because he has bounced back from this so fast. I could tell before the surgery he was feeling terrible and now he wants to be active and he feels much better. I don't want him to go. I knew it would happen one day, but I hoped it would be after he lived to a ripe old age. Not at almost eight years old. Sometimes life just isn't fair.

Well, I am hoping that your vet will give you some encouraging news.

We did the chemo route with our Cinders back in 92 and she lasted almost 2 and half years. She had a good quality of life until the last day or so.
She was still sneaking away to her favorite tavern for a hamburger. But thats another thread.
Dont give up hope.
