My boxer has developed "zits" on his chin and along the sides of his chin. The doctor put him on Cephalexin, in hopes to clear them up. Aside from washing his stanless steel bowl every day and wipping his face after each meal...........how can these be prevented? The vet called them "acne". Is this what they really are?????

We have always used stainless steel bowles. I didn't wipe Oskar's face when he was a puppy and he did get pimples. i've wiped his face every time he eats now and he hasn't gotten a single one.

How old is your furbaby? It's kind of like acne - and like acne, it's an affliction of the "teen-aged" Boxer. They should go away on their own when he gets older.

My brindle boy got zits something awful. All recommended tricks (stainless steel bowls, washing face, antiseptic) didn't make any difference. He's just over 2-1/2 yrs (approx., he's a rescue) and the zits have stopped for the most part. I still wipe his face off after every meal (mostly to keep my clothes, the furniture and the carpet clean), but it appears he may be outgrowing them.....FINALLY.

Unless he's over 3, hang in there and I'm sure he'll outgrow them as well. If he's over 3, highly likely there's a more serious problem, not just acne.

Harley is almost 4yrs old. He hasnt had a bout with "acne" in quite a long time. It just came on all of a sudden. The Cephalexin seems to be helping clear it up, so we'll see what happens. Aside from cleaning his bowls on a daily basis and cleaing his jowls after each meal..........I dunno what else to do. The vet insists its just "doggie acne".
