Boxer Buddy
Hello,

I've been away from this board for too long and I'm glad to be back. I have two boxers on with great skin and the other with very bad chin acne due to his jowels are larger, drooper and store more moisture and water, food, yucky stuff etc.

Is there any other Boxer owers out there that their dogs have chin acne and what do you do for them?

Thanks,

The first thing to do is feed/water only from stainless steel bowls, if you aren't already. Generally that will clear it up. If not, you can also clean the chin right after eating with a warm washcloth and dry thoroughly. Hydrogen peroxide is also helpful (dab on with a cotton ball).

Dani had chin acne

Our second boxer, Dani, had bouts with chin acne, although they have lessened over the past year or so. She still loves to lie in the dirt whenever possible. Her vet recommended using benzoyl peroxide....the same stuff humans use....and the same frequency ...once or twice a day....but always after you give the chin a thorough & gentle cleaning.

Cheers,

Stainless steel bowls ALWAYS, as Julie said.

Keep the face clean and as dry as possible.
You can use Oxy Pads (yes the ones for us).
This will help keep the hair folicules cleaned out.
If the hair folicules become *clogged* for too long,
you might need antibiotics to clear the infection before the acne will disappear.
