Chicken Soup and Diamond Recall

I have been looking into switching Boomers dry dog food and was very interested in Chicken Soup. However, when I told my vet that I had bought a bag to try, she told me to throw it away because they are associated with Diamond. Has anyone experienced any problems with Chicken Soup and dogs getting sick or dying because of the problem with Diamond?

I feed my dogs Chicken Soup and have not had any problems what so ever. They have been eating it for a little over year now.

Yes, Chicken Soup is made by Diamond. Actually, Schell & Kampeter Inc (owners of the diamond label) make a good dozen or more different dog foods. But they also make them in different places, and with different ingredients. Chicken Soup happens to be made in an entirely different plant, in a different State to the affected foods. And it doesn't even contain any of the affected ingredients... The only relationship it has to the affected foods is it's owner.

Since the aflatoxin originated from infected corn, I'd personally be far more worried about buying a food with corn in it than I would about buying a food without corn but made by diamond. Thing is, other manufacturers may have bought corn from the same producer

That doesn't mean I wouldn't watch closely for any signs of illness. Sure, I would. But I'd be doing that with any dry dog food. Most especially any containing corn.

i feed CS also...as mentioned above,the problem was with corn.CS doesn't have corn in it

Thank you so much everyone for your input. I was really upset when the vet told me to throw away the whole bag. The food she recommended does not even compare to CS as far as ingredients and meat content.

You are correct about trying to push another food that is loaded with byproducts. The vet gave me a sample of Eagle Pack and suggested I try that, but when I read what was in it, there is no way I would switch from Nutro to that.
