My Molly has almost completed her first week kibble-free. So far, we've been feeding chicken wings and thighs, and she's doing well with them... a couple of loud crunches, and they're down the hatch. Well, tonight I gave her a large chicken "drumstick", cut off of a pack of chicken quarters that I found on sale. This took a little more work for her to chew up, and I discovered something that was quite unnerving to me. In the course of eating this leg, she dropped some pieces of bone fragments out of her mouth, and they were very sharp. (it was the outer part of the bone, the marrow inside was soft and mushy) Obviously, sharp bone fragments are a big concern to me... all the information that I've read about raw chicken bones suggest that they are soft and pliable, and won't splinter. Well, these sure did! Are chicken legs safe? I keep thinking I should be grinding, but like I said, she's doing a good job of chewing on her own. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, and thank you in advance.
