Chewing and Destroying Toys

I know puppies love and need to chew but when or do they ever stop? I have gone through I don't know how many tennis balls, toys, beds, etc. My Abbey will be 2 in November.

It never ends but it does slow down over time. Sammie is 9 or 10 now and she still enjoys her bones but she doesn't go through them nearly as fast.

A lot of the time it is extra pent up energy causing them to tear things up, if they are destroying beds and such. As for destroying toys I just got better at selecting one that will last. I never buy stuffed toys because if they never last more than 15 minutes, and usually it is between 5-10 minutes. I go for toys made by Kong and JW Pet. They seem to last the longest for us. My girl is 8.5 and will still tear up something if it is not well made. My other two lived past 10 and would chew up toys that weren't well made.

I've had a lot of luck with goDog with Chew Guard Technology toys. I find them on Amazon. Aside from bones, Sammie only likes plush toys. These stand up to the abuse pretty well, even with tug-of-war.

My Abby is almost 3 and will still destroy a dog toy FAST!! We have to get her the ones that say they are indestructible but - we know she will destroy them- it's only a matter of time. Were fortunate that she hasn't chewed anything else. We've always made sure she has TONS of chew bones and toys around in all the rooms so she never HAS to find something else to chew. Now- we have a new Boxer boy who is 10 weeks old and I think he's going to be more of a challenge. He seems to like shoes and socks..........hope he can learn from big sis and stay away from all things NOT dog toys LOL!!

What isn't a dog toy? I still remember looking out in the backyard and seeing Trudy running around tossing my boxer shorts up in the air.

Haha that is so funny but really not surprising as I have found socks and slippers outside multiple times that have not been left out there by any humans in the household

We too are very selective with what we buy and don't every buy stuffed toys; not only will Bandit destroy it within 2 minutes, he will eat the stuffing and the shredded fabric. Lola and Tucker will shred them but won't eat any part of it, thankfully. Luckily ours all love knotted rope toys and Jolly balls which are pretty much indestructible.

Get a purple pig squeaky toy from Walmart! 5 bucks but Honnah loves hers and believe me she destroys all toys! It's really weird, because she could destroy it but doesn't. It's nice to see her have a favorite toy! Try it out!
