Chewed battery

Help -- one of my two boxers chewed on a battery and some oily substance came out. Does anyone know what I should do? I called the emergeny vet and they weren't any help.

Take them to the vet ASAP, it is possible they could have chemical burns on their lips and in the mouth and possible ulceration to the gastrointestinal tract from battery acid.

The vet wanted us to call poison control before seeing us.... In any event, I was told to give them water and watch for ulcers. Thankfully, they're both ok. Whew.... my boys never seem to run out of things to get into.
