I was blessed with 2 wonderful boxers that I recently lost to cancer. My 10 year old little girl was diagnosed with lymphoma and it was in the final stages when they found it. I was told she would have only lived 2 months if I hadn't found it. We started her on chemo and prednisone and she had no side effects other than an occasional bout of diarrhea that we controlled with chewable pepto bismo. She was like a new dog again. They told us that we would know when it was time and she would go quick. 4 Months after starting her on Chemo our 9 year old boy got very sick one day and within 7 days he was gone. We never knew he had cancer until it was too late. His stomach, lungs and everything were taken over. My little girl lasted almost 10 months on the chemo, at the end her lymph nodes just couldn't get the fluid out of her body and she began to swell so we had to decide to put her down because her quality of life was impacted even though her beautiful little eyes still had so much life in them. It was much easier to lose her though because for 10 months we knew it was coming and we were making the most of everyday and just so thankful for the extra time. I only wish I could have helped my little Boomer and kept him around a while longer. The chemo worked great and was less expensive than I had thought it would be. We went for weekly shots that were $50.00. I'm so sorry you are having to go through this, I know how you feel. I wish you the best, just enjoy everyday you get.
