Chapped lips?

My 9 month old puppy looks like she has chapped lips. They r really red.
It's been really windy lately and although they aren't outside a whole lot, I think it may be affecting her. Her brother is fine. Is that possible? If so, what should I do?

Are you sure it isn't dried on food? Thor can get that from time to time if I don't wipe his mouth after he eats. Is she showing any other signs of dry skin? Like scratching, or flaking of the skin? If so you can give her some fish oil and vitamin e.

It doesn't look like food. She is whiter around her lips so it seems like they are pretty red and a little swollen. She is 100% normal besides the lips. She keep licking them. The boy is not showing any signs of it, but he is black around his lips so it would be harder to tell. It's very strange.

White areas can become sunburnt. I know that probably isn't the case. With all the wind you guys are having, you're probably not spending much time outdoors. For some relief, you can get some vitamin e and dab it on.

I see that Gatorblu says that it is windy where you are, the wind can be very drying so that my be the problem ,It might do some good to try whatever there is in your part of the world for chaped lips, the vitamin e is also a go idea.

Not sure if you have figured this out, but Kinnon's red and swollen too... She's actually probably allergic to a food source and is showing it around her mouth. If you can't get it to clear up and it is all over her jowls, you may want to look deeper into this!

Vitamin E is a great option, and you can use the capsules, poke with a pin. It also comes in a small bottle, liquid form, but it's pricey. Don't be surprised if he licks even more, it smells like fish! Or burts bee's wax stick works wonders too - more lick proof than other so called chapped sticks. I'd get the scent free one and put it on your finger then on the lips. Trying it directly may become a chew toy! LOL

hey I agree, if the wind dies down and they are still chapped it may be a food allergy - have you added anything new to their diets?

When the wind died down she was fine. I bought Vitamin E but only used it twice since she would just lick it off. I wish I could post the picture to show you what it was like. Now that she is fine, it is a pretty funny picture. She has puffy pink lips, ears back and is giving sad eyes.
