I'm thinking about changing Austin's food from Science Diet to Solid Gold. I know you are supposed to do it slowly to avoid an upset tummy, but how slow and how should I portion it with the old food. Thanks!

When switching to higher grade foods that are richer, I have always had the best luck switching over atleast with half a bag.

Hi again Chris,
Like Aimee said, the Solid Gold is a richer food and should be done slowly and longer since it is so rich.
BUT.....I have to tell you my funny story. When I switched Cooper to the solid gold I did 3/4 old 1/4 new well....he PICKED out all the new and SPIT out all the old on the floor and he would only eat the solid gold from that point on. So it depends what the dog wants as well:D

I switched Molly from Eukanuba over to Solid Gold in about a week's time, and everything went well. No bad poops, and she loves it! I use the Seameal as well, and mix in a little cottage cheese and a splash of low-sodium beef broth with it too. She shines like a new penny and has the energy of 3 dogs!

Barron's mom

Completely Boxer Crazy
I slowly changed Barron to Innova using the following formula:

I initially started by giving him 10 kibbles, and then 20 kibbles of the Innova to his old food the first two days. Then...I gave him 1/4 cup of the Innova to 3/4 cup of the old food for 5 days, and then increased the Innova to 1/2 cup to 1/2 cup of the old food for 5 days, and then increased the Innova to 3/4 cup to 1/4 cup of the old food for 5 days, until I made the total switch to Innova. Barron adjusted beautifully to the Innova and currently has a healthy and shiny coat :D
