Boxer Insane
As some of you know (from Kippy's Mom's post last week), Chance had to have surgery on 11/1. I was laying in bed petting him (10/31) and noticed a mass on the underside of his right front leg (right above the largest pad.) I took him into work the next morning and my boss did not like the way it felt so he wanted to remove it right away. The mass was actually growing in his tendon sheath and another smaller mass had already started to grow also. He had to sever his tendon to try to remove the mass. It looked like the only thing that was involved was the tendon sheath. It was not in a very good location and if the margines weren't clean then there wasn't much left we could do if it came back cancerous. Needless to say I have been an absolute basket case waiting for the biopsy results. Well I finally got them back and it's GOOD NEWS (after alot of confusion)!!!!!! It appears that they are benign masses :D and he was able to remove the whole thing and the margines are clear. The pathologist said "excision appears complete and should be curative" WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO. I was just about in tears when I read that!!! Although, I spoke with both surgeons and asked for their opinion on the results, they both said after reading the report that it most likely would have came back malignant if it was not removed as early as it was. If I did not discover it as early as I did, it could have come back as cancer :( People always say i'm way too obsessive / worried about my baby's, guess what? Obviously it pays to be that way sometimes.
So, he still has to wear his cast /splint for about another 2 1/2 weeks. The doctor wants him in the cast because he had to sever his tendon and he wants his foot to stay straight. His last two toes will probably be affected, they might stick up in the air but I don't care, just as long as my baby is ok, that's the only thing that matters to me. He will have to have his cast changed on thursday and we might have an idea about how they will sit (his toes) at that time. He looks so cute wobbling around the house with his big "boo-boo" leg. I took some pictures of him, i'll see if I can get them posted soon. He is adjusting really well with it on and even got to play in the leaves alittle yesterday!!!
Once again, Chance, my family, and I would like to say THANK YOU to everyone who kept him in their thoughts and prayers. We aprreciate it soooooooooooooo much and it means the world to us.
