So, Lucy has been curious about Kiwi my buff tabby since we brought her home. Kiwi, being almost 4 years old, is the alpha male among my little menagerie.

After being smacked by him a couple times, Lucy quickly learned to leave Kiwi alone. That's when he started getting brave. He actually COMES AFTER HER, and then has the nerve to hiss and smack her. Poor thing, she just looks at me all confused with those big chocolate eyes that say "But MOM! I didn't do anything!".

It hasn't gotten too serious, more of a nuisance. Until last night.

Mr. Almighty Kiwi flat out downright attacked my Lucy. And it only took 1 good smack to drop her little 4-month-old-behind.

So here I sit in my office at work. I just walked in the door. It is 12:30. I can blame this 4 1/2 hour delay on the fact that Sean and I just spent 3 hours at the vet getting Miss Lucy's eye flushed, stained, cleaned and medicated up. Kiwi scratched a 1/4" long gouge in her third eyelid. THANK HEAVENS it did not touch her cornea.

She's doing fine, couldn't figure out what all the fuss was about. Guess she's more of a trooper than I am!

And as for Kiwi...after getting his nailed clipped by his not so happy daddy, I decided to do the worst thing he (Kiwi) could ever imagine in his life.

He's going on a diet.

 Poor Lucy!! BAD Kiwi!! nonoicon

So sorry she's hurting. At least he didn't get her cornea! That was a close one!

Don't worry Lucy, soon you'll be MUCH bigger than that kitty, and he won't be so tough after his manicure and new diet are underway! :D

Hope she feels better soon!

When we first brought Tyson home, the cat didn't adjust at all. She is definately a loner as it is, staying in DD's room most of the time. But it was funny to watch as Tyson grew. Now he can easily "have her for lunch" and she runs the other way when she or he comes too close to each other. She does torment him at times. She will sit on the banister on our first landing and just stare at him, or come part way down the steps and just sit there looking at him through the railing. They will look at each other for a good 5 min, she will then procede to jump down on the steps and Tyson ever so slowly goes up them. She will take off when he gets about 2 steps from her. Then all heck breaks loose upstairs. Sounds like their tearing the house down. But she does let him get within about a foot of her now. What's she going to do when he's full grown? hmmmm

When I take Rocky to my parents' house, he still walks around cautiously looking for the cat. She passed away months ago but he's still not convinced.

From the time he was a pup, she would stalk him and drew blood on many of her attacks. I had to pull her detached claws out of his hide on several occasions. Don't get me wrong, I felt terrible for Rocky but is was pretty funny watching a maybe 15 pound cat chasing a 70 pound full grown Boxer across the yard ;) Luckily she never really hurt anything but his feelings.

Glad Lucy's not hurt too bad. Bad, Bad Kiwi...

Now that I have some pictures posted, you can see the cat scratch culprit, Mr. Kiwi. I'm just waiting for the picture of him and Ben to be approved.

And an update...the diet is working ;)

Awww, poor Lucy. I hope your eye feels better soon.
My in-laws have a cat that hates any other animals. "Greystone" will sucker punch Cyrus any chance he can get. I can't tell you how many times Cyrus has yelped in pain and surprise after being ambushed by the cat!! Greystone was so rotten, they had to return the other kitty they adopted from the shelter because he would attack her so viciously.
Behave yourself Kiwi!!
