My 2 year old ate a bar of soap today. She has been throwing it up all morning. She seems okay but is lethargic. I have been giving her water (no food yet) and she's just been sleeping all day. It's snowing out like crazy and I'm not going to risk driving unless I really have to. My vet said for me to keep an eye on her. Just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience. Thanks

Mine loves Irish Spring. It has upset his tummy a little (loose stools), but nothing ever serious. I have to lock him out of the bathroom when I take a bath because he wants to lick the soap off me as quick as I get it on. Silly boy.

Hope Casey is feeling better real soon.

Punchie likes to get into the soap too. And same with baths, I have to lock the bathroom door or else she would drink soapy bath water til it was coming out her ears. I can't imagine why though. I remember my mother washing my mouth out with soap once for saying a dirty word...not pleasant. Of course, I didn't use foul language around mom anymore!

Thanks for getting back to me. Yup, sure enough...she's fine. One day of extra sleep and she's back to normal. Whew

All my dogs have loved soap, I make sure I keep it well out of their reach. Normally resulted in a bit of an upset tummy but oncr it was really bad, my poor boy had froth coming out of his nose, couldn't breath properly, I rang the vet and she said to keep an eye on him, eventually he was fine!

Why do these silly dogs like to eat stuff they shouldn't and wouldn't even taste good?

I remember when Abbie was a few months short of being a year old and ate a steel wool (SOS or Brillo pad) I was thinking that the steel wool was going to cause havoc on her insides. I called the vet and he said not to worry, it would all pass and the thing I had to worry about the most was the soap that was on the pad, who would have thought? She didn't even throw up, acted like nothing happened...

bad eating habits

Our Max has an iron stomach. He has eaten an entire bar of soap, chicken bones and even bitten a hole into a new jug of laundry detergent. He has never gotten sick or even had diarrhea from any of these things. Lucky for him. I'm glad Casey is feeling better.
