Cardiologist appt

I just scheduled a cardiology appointment for Roscoe next week at Michigan State University (a very good vet hospital) at the request of my vet. He wanted me to do it before we get Roscoe neutered because one of the other vets in the office heard a murmur (he couldnt hear it himself). I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on what to ask the cardiologist or what tests to have or not have, in order to save myself some money on tests that may be unnecessary. The lady I scheduled the appointment with said it will cost anywhere between $200 and $600 :eek: depending on what tests they do.

Don't have any experience but just wanted to wish you and Roscoe good luck! I hope the cardiologist finds that his heart is just perfect... and that you don't end up having to spend too much $$$$ to find out!

You want the cardiologist to do an ausculation and let you know if there is a murmor and if there is, what grade it is. Then, I would go with the cardiologist's recommendation as to whether an echocardiogram is needed - I believe that they typically do this if there is a murmor, but maybe they won't need to if it is only a low grade murmor.
