Can't decide

I was going to wait until spring but an opportunity arrose to get another boxer which I want so we went to the breeder today and I am in a pickle! I can't decide which puppy to take. I have to call her tonight and tell her which one. The puppies are already 12 weeks old and I won't get him for 2 more weeks. *sigh*

One is white and I have always wanted a white one, but I am afraid he will be deaf or blind(he didn't seem to be). I have been doing research and read that they are more prone to it the fawns.

The other one is a flashy fawn and looks so much like like Shelby that I was drawn to him. He is a little darker then her. Both had good dispositions and wanted to play with me. I love them both but cant afford them both. LOL!

I am going insane which one to choose. Then I thought I would let my son't pick and they both chose different ones! ACK!

Please someone give me some advice! Thanks in advance!

Oooo that is a tough one. I would follow my gut on this one or if there is a REAL connection with one of them I would grab him.

wouldn't it be nice if we could have 100 boxers? haha

By this time, if the white one was goin to be deaf or blind he already would be. Blindness is actually not all that common in white boxers from what I have read. Deafness usually occurs in about 1/4 of all white boxers. This is an average number and not an exact figure. You would be able to tell if he was def by now by making a loud sound so see if he looks or calling him by name to see if he notices. Just info so you know how to tell. I think I read somewhere that blue eyed white boxers are more prone to being deaf but aren't necessairly blind, not sure about this though. Good luck.

oh btw, I would have no problem taking a deaf dog. They learn signs very well most of the time and make great dogs. Just my opinion on them.

Thanks for the great advice I think I am going to get the white one because I have always wanted a white one. He seemed fine to me & DH. I know the deafness shouldn't matter but I was just not sure what to do. I actually have taught Shelby signs for all the commands I have for her. She isn't even deaf but I thought it would be good for her to learn.

glad you made your choice. I would love to have a white one. Teaching had signals to dogs deaf or not is always a good idea as you could be in a very distracting situation where they may not be able to hear you, but still see you and will respond to your signals.

Wow! I love white boxers - and fawn and brindle... I love them all! I really am intrigued by the white ones, though. Can't wait to see photos! Congratulations!

Yay for the white boxer!!! I wanted a fawn boxer, but now that I have Beau, I wouldn't want it any other way. I can't go anywhere without people telling me how beautiful he is. He does have a brindle patch around one eye and brindle spots under his hair, but he is wonderful. I always tell him he's my wanna be dalmatian. Have fun with your new puppy and two weeks isn't all that long. Just think of all the fun that is to come!!!

I`m also going to tell you to follow your guts its not really hard to know which one you prefer the most! If it was my decision i would take the fawn. But that`s me!

Well DD came home from cheerleading and said "Mommy we just HAVE to get the white one! So it's decided! She was the tie breaker because both boys picked a different one. Hubby really wants the white one and I always get to decide so I think I will let him get his way! LOL

Plus the more I look at his picture the more I want him, since I already have one fawn.
