Bruno, my roommates Doberman tore a hole in the carpet (new carpet at that!) in the back bedroom. We came home yesterday only to find him loose in the room. The hole stretches arcoss the doorway and is about 3' x 6". He tore through the padding all the way to the wood floor. It's my house too. . . and I paid for the carpet! But at least he offered to pay for it to be fixed. I guess we're even cuz T-bone (my boxer) put a tear in his new couch. hehehe.

I CAN"T BELIEVE THIS!!!!!!!

Whats up with dogs and their love for carpet. T-bone tore 2 holes in the old carpet and is responsible for me buying the new stuff. She is over that now and has full run of the house. But come on, this sucks!

Time for a new cage. He always paws and scratches at it and I guess he finally figured out how to open it. To bad there is a pad lock on it today. . .

Thanks for letting me vent.

How old are these guys?

Gives me something to look forward too.:p

When my lab was small my dad would go over and let her out for me, she was loose in the house. Everyday when I would come home from work somethng looked funny inthe livingroom but I couldn't exactly put my finger on it. Till one day, I noticed, apparently she had been chewing the corner of my area rug, not an expensive one, solid color, and my dad would cut the whole length to make it even again because he didn't want her to get in trouble. Whenit got down to a six by six from a ten by ten I noticed. smashicon

What can we do!

Sounds like the Dobie is bored! I had an Australian Cattle Dog once that chewed through the carpet in our rented townhouse. Tore up the padding, etc. We were not thrilled in the least and everytime you stepped on this one certain spot - you'd hit one of those carpet tacking nails and send pain pulsing through your foot!

We don't leave our dogs alone in the house. We have a big backyard with a covered patio and a dog house. We always find dog hair in the carpet. If we don't move to the country soon, we are going to replace our carpet with wood flooring and ceramic tile. If we get the wood floors with the "distressed"look the dogs will have a hard time damaging it and it will clean very easily. We'll just put down a rug or blanket if we want a spot to lie down. I've seen too many instances of flooring being eaten to go any other way in the future. Also, carpet captures lots of dust.
