I used to feed my boxer the Lamb Canidae and he did very well off it. Better than he did off TOTW. Since they changed their formula I took him off it just to be safe. Now that they have come out with the grain free products I was thinking about putting him back on.

Anyone have experience with the Canidae grain free?
Do the grain free produce the same ill results as the recent formula changed Canidae?

I am really bummed out about Canidae recently because I thought that they produced a high quility product at a reasonable price. Now I am spending about $10-15 more per bag and I don't notice any improvements over the Canidae (older formula).

Isn't the Canidae grain free +$50 per bag? Personally if I were gonna drop that on a grain free formula I'd do it on something like Wellness Core which my dog loved and did great on it until her allergies popped up. Now she's on Cal Natural because everything that makes a grain free, grain free, she is allergic to (potato).

Maybe it's just me and I still have a bad taste in my mouth about the whole Canidae debacle (had Mia on it since she was a pup), but I wouldn't touch the stuff again.

Yeah I have a bad taste too that is why I can't pull the trigger on it yet. It is $50 for a 30lb bag compared to Wellness Core Ocean at $58 for a 26lb bag (I know not a huge difference but every bit counts). I am looking for something that has at least 30% protein, grain free, low in price(out of luck here) and now chicken products. The store I go to I would have the options:
Canidae grain free salmon
Innove Evo Red Meat
Wellness Core Ocean
Acana Grasslands
Acana Pacifica
Oijen Fish
Solid Gold Barking at the moon--over $60 a bag

There are other options that I considered but didn't fit my criteria:
TOTW Pacific stream--low protein
California Natural Herring and Sweetpotato--low protein and grains
California Hatural Lamb and Rice--Low protein and grains
Natural Balance sweet potato and fish--low protein
natural Balance Sweet potato and Venison--low protein

I bit the bullet and went with the Acana Pacifica. It seems to be from what I hear a 6 star food even though it is listed as a 5 star on Dogfood analysis. It was $58 which hurt but what can I do.

Would it be possible to give one of the lower protein foods and just add a little protein to it? Might help out a little. Just an idea.
