Can anybody help with my buddy? Hoss is 9 years and has stopped eating or drinking. Vet says symptoms are cancer-like, has swollen lymph nodes, Stools are dark, not loose, urine is normal. Got test results back, turned out to be negative. Took him back, and they tell me that they still suspect cancer, how can this be if tests show negative? Is there anything else I should tell them to check? Time is running out fast! Please help!

I'm so sorry that Hoss is ill :( His symptoms may not necessarily mean cancer. In saying that Rebel had Lymphosarcoma but we had two negative results before finally getting a positive result :(

You could go to another vet for a second opinion - this is always a good idea. Another option is to go straight to an Oncologist (which is what we did with Rebel and was well worth while). Your vet may be able to recommend one in your area.

This website has a list of Oncologists: http://www.acvim.org/wwwfp/onco/acvimoncol.htm

These are very good sites on canine cancer in general:

The worst thing is not knowing. Wishing you all the best and thinking of you and Hoss. Please keep us updated.

We have just returned home from th U of M, bad news, They also tell me it is lymphosarcoma. It has taken its toll on Hoss's other organs as well. I would like to thank everyone for your support and kindness. Hoss will be sadly missed by me and his sister, Lady (who is still full of WILDFIRE). Thanks again,
~Marlin

I am so sorry about your furbaby's illness? Is it always fatal or is there a chance for treatment? Please accept my deepest sympathies and I will keep you and Hoss in my prayers. God's Blessing and many hugs go your way.

Oh, Marlin! I am so sorry about the loss of your beloved Hoss. We lost our sweet boy, Casey (a labx) in January of this year and we are still broken hearted. We got our boxer boy, Harley just after Casey was put down and he has more than filled the gaping hole in our hearts. I'm sure that Lady will be a huge help in getting you through this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and, please, don't ever lose faith that Hoss is waiting to greet you at The Rainbow Bridge someday. God Bless. http://www.geocities.com/firefly_ca_2000/

Marlin,
So sorry to hear the news. We lost Hume just about 10 months ago to cancer and even tho we have a new fur baby, there are times when I still look for Hume.
Hope you can remember the good times and know he is at least no longer in any pain or discomfort.
Boxer hugs to you
Bo
