Super Boxer
It has been a while since I last posted. A full-time job with no internet access kind of limits the time I'm able to spend on Boxerworld.
Some of you may remember my Cookie and her fight against cancer from 12/04 to 7/05. She was apparently cancer-free for almost a year. A couple of weeks ago, she began having trouble picking up her food. It started initially as dropping a kibble or two here and there. Dropping food became more frequent, and she began to drool from the left side of her mouth. My boss and I (both veterinarians) performed a neurologic exam on Cookie, and the news is not good. It is very likely that Cookie has a tumor that is affecting the nerves to the left side of her face.
I don't know what the future will bring. Some of these tumors are very slow-growing, so we may have months. It is not in a place that it can be surgically treated, and I don't know if I want to put her through radiation therapy again. I DO know that I will not let her suffer, and when she is ready to go, I will help her to the other side. She has been my best friend for 13 and 1/2 years, so I owe her at least that much. I'm so lucky to have had her for this long.
Please keep Cookie in your thoughts.
