I was doing some training with Princess tonight (and TRYING to spend some 'alone' time with her). Mac noticed that he was missing out on the action and came tearing in the room. Princess was in the middle of "shake a paw" with me, and Mac starts nawing on her ears and neck! She sat there sooooo patiently, still 'shaking a paw' while Mac munched away. smashicon smashicon smashicon

I put him in a 'lay (down), stay' but by that time Princess was walking away with her sad eyes and droopy ears. :(

Mac can be such a brat to Princess - I am AMAZED sometimes how patient Princess is with him. He does this to her ALL the time. In the evenings, her hips are sometimes too sore to hop up on the couch, so she lays at my feet. Mac takes it as an invitation to sit on her and chomp away on her ears and neck. Secretly though, I think she loves the attention from him!

Goobers, both of them!

My two compete for attention all the time.
My husband and I train the two together. It is the only way we can get anywhere with them.
I agree with you, I think secretly they like the competition and the menacing other. They truly love each other!! I always tell people they are like an old married couple. They sound like it when they jaw argue- nag, nag, nag!

My Lily does that to Ruby and he's also very patience with her. Sometime he just walk away because she's very pushy. Lately I think he's learning to push her back but he's still the laid-back type. I feel bad for him because sometimes I think he just had enough of her pushing and barking and he haven't gotten any peace and quiet like he did when he was an only dog.

I know what you mean. Subi does not get the attention that she used to. If i start playing or petting Subi Bailey will get right in the middle and interrupt and subi will get down and look at me with this sad look. So at night time i have started spooning with subi, that is her and i time. but needless to say bailey is one that NEEDS attention and if she will do whatever needs to be done to get it.

Seth is the same way to Penny. She sometimes just lays down to relax, minding her own business when out of nowhere Seth come in to either chomp on her neck or back legs. They both compete for everything, especially treats. You ask one to shake a paw and the other jumps in the way paw ready to give in exchange for a milkbone. I bring bones home (one for each) and Seth doesn't want his he wants Penny's because it's obviously better. foolicon

They're so funny!

Our kids are just the same way - absolutely everything is either a competition or an invitation to play/chase/stalk... but heaven forbid just one of them goes for a trip to the vet - or anywhere for that matter. They come back to a nervous wreck of a sibling who can't get enough sniffles, licks and snorts in... "Where were you? What did you eat? Do you have any idea how worried I was? Just for that I'm going to shake your favorite toy right in your face..." and they're off! smashicon smashicon

Or if there's guarding to be done...the first bark signals that's it's time to lay all differences aside and put up a united front in scaring away the intruder (usually some cheeky little cat or squirrel... )

Gotta love 'em! :D
