Tango is on wellness fish and sweet potato and he gets a little boiled chicken with this. Two days now he has had explosive diarrea. I havnt changed anything in his diet, he hasnt had anything different at all. I had a thought it might be the chicken so i cooked a fresh batch and he still had the same diarrea about 2 hours after he ate. He dont act sick at all, just acts normal and he dont have a fever or anything. The only thing i can think of is maybe the kibble is bad? Unless he has a bug of some sort i just dont know what else might cause it. I've given him some rice for breakfast today and we will see if his stool is the same or not after that. I just wanted to see if anyone thought that could happen (its a new bag too..about 2 weeks into it and this just appeared two days ago). If he isnt better tommorrow we will go to the vet. If he were acting sick i'd take him now but since he isnt im just puzzled!

Ohh..I forgot to say i cannot get him to eat pumpkin for anything and i did get some yogurt down him yesterday but it didnt seem to help anything..course that might have been a bad idea for diarrea..i know for vomiting it seems to calm his tummy down..:(..im getting some pepto today tho to see if that helps!

I honestly don't know if kibble can go bad....but yes, try pepto...tablets work great...less mess.Or I believe you can use Immodium too.And you are doing the right thing....if it doesn't clear up....get him to the vet!Sometimes they get little bugs just like we do.Hope he's feeling better soon!

Yes! Kibble can go bad!!!
Especially those which contain natural preservatives, such as Wellness. The preservatives are healthier, but can go rancid much faster then chemical preservatives. That's why many of the healthier kibbles have best before dates.

My advice would be to take him off the kibble and see if it clears up on it's own. If it does I would bring the kibble back to the store.

I use kaopectate for diarrhea. But I'd just try taking him off the kibble for a couple of days first before using any anti-diarrhea medications.

Thank you both! He hasnt had any episodes today and is racing round playing like normal. Im going to take the kibble back for sure! I actually bought childrens kaopectate today instead of Pepto but i didnt give him any yet. I was thinking of waiting to see if the rice worked, I hate to give him any meds if it can be helped. Harley i went to your site and you've got a beautiful baby. I also read up on the home cooked diet thanks for the great info. I had been wondering what kind of veggies he could have and your site sure told me alot..Again thanks both of you for your information..lots of boxer hugs to you both!
