HI

Ive been looking to adopt a boxer for quite some time now. Some one said you couldn't put two males together because they would fight to the death. Is this the pure truth? My boy Max plays with the boy down the street all the time and they have NEVER had a problem. Max is 2 and the other boxer is 3. It has been a very long wait and we really would love another boxer we have talked to all the rescues in our state (Washington) all of the shelters and posted ads on the net. with no luck (for a female) we have a 1 year old son that has made people a little reluctant. But dont these people know boxers are one of the best kid dogs around? Could I get a second male and be ok? And does any one know of a boxer that needs a great home with a stay at home mom and a BIG fenced yard? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!

Well two males is much better than 2 females... but if you have two males that tend to be more dominate than submissive, then somewhere down the line you might have a big fight on your hands. Especially if you get a rescue and it comes with whatever baggage or prior experiences that you may not be completetly aware of.

If you didn't have a 1 year old, I say give it a try. But with a baby to take most of the attention, I don't know if two males would be that great. Why not wait until your son is a bit older and you can get a puppy then and allow him to have his own puppy experience...???

Just my two cents...

I adopted a 7 yo male about 6 mos. ago. My 3 yo male and he are best friends and have never had an issue. My 3 yo is quite dominant but they've definitely figured out their relationship. It really is the best thing we've ever done, both dogs are soooo happy.

I think 2 males would be fine. I am looking to adopt another boxer myself, I want a male..I dont really fear problems, the rescue groups are well informed and will give you info on the dogs they have. if they have been arround other dogs or if they are better off being an only dog.

Good Luck!
