Our Boxer (male 10 months) swims very well in our backyard pool. He has to be lifted in as he will not jump but when he does finally get in he loves to swim. He however prefers the kids to pull him around the pool while he lays on a surf board.

Cisco can swim!!!

He is not a big fan of the water. He would rather be a lazy butt and lay around on the rocks. But if he is thirsty he will wade around and get a drink. If we go on a walk through the river, he will go with us and swim the parts that are too deep for him to touch.

Mine swim-- but it is an effort and they do not like it-- I put them in the pool and they swim-- but dont seem to like it-- but when they get out and are all cooled off they roll around and play for ages.

I took Winston swimming for the first time 4 weeks ago with Boo & Courgae. Now, Winston is a fetch freak. He cant reisist going after a ball. In fact he got bitten by a Golden Retriever 2 weeks ago when he chased after the other dog's ball. Anyway, I digress; I throw the ball into the pond and he dives in after it. Only to realize that he can't swim very well. He was thrashing the water to a foam, keeping his head as high as he could, trying to make his way back to land. It was almost like a person swimming but craning her neck high, not wanting to get her head wet. The look on his face was hilarious. Anyway, we put Boo's life jacket on him and he was back in the water, happy as a pig in s***, and still thrashing the water to a foam. He now has his own life jacket and we are going swimming again this weekend with other BW members in the area. Can't wait to take a photo of that priceless facial expression.

Sophie can swim!

Sophie is 9 months and she is a great swimmer! I am thrilled since we have a lake within walking distance that our boys like to live in during the summer. I did not expect her to swim so well or love it so much, but she does! She swam for 2 hours straight the other day and then crashed in the sand. She swims out to the dock and I have to help her up the ladder. The she will launch off the dock just like the boxer did in the movie "Good Boy"---off the diving board at the pool! It is a scream! She is also very protective while there. When the boys go under water she goes on alert. She will even jump up in the water to see if she can see them under or stand on her back legs with her front feet at the top of the water. Unfortunately, she has tried to "help" a couple of times and landed right on them. But, they forgive her. She will also put herself between us and anyone that comes by until I tell her it is okay. She is a dandy! I believe we have the perfect dog (and dog breed)!! (I was not too thrilled when she jumped in my bath water one night, but little indiscretions like that have to be over looked! Now we know to shut the door if drawing a bath for someone other than her!)

My dog went in the water as a pup. It was a hot summers day and the river thames was busy. The little monkey started chasing swans out into the middle of the river!!.

He just knew how to swim. Was automatic.

From that day on if he ever say water deep enough to swim in he would dive in. Only problem was I couldnt swim so if he ever got in trouble I would have had trouble rescuing him lol.

Excellent swimmer

My boxers have always sunk to the bottom too. Just can't seem to stay afloat. They do for a little while but then can't stay up.
Use a life vest. They work just great.
Toby will even play fetch in the pool. He just keeps swimming back and forth. See my photo gallery.

I have more of a problem getting them out. Henry will play and swim a little but diesel is a water boxer and loves small waves crashing over him.
We started off at the beach with my boyfriend paddling with them and now they love it.

Bijou can swim but...

She does not really seem to like it. Her first experience at swimming was not a great one. My kids were in my in-laws pool throwing a ball around that Bijou desperately wanted. So, she jumped right in and sank! I panicked and grabbed her collar and pulled her up out of the pool. She was fine.

Her next experience went better when we when to the Cape on vacation. She would go in the water but only to the point where she could still stand so I took her further out and supported her stomach while she did the doggie paddle. Let her go and she swam right for the shore. More of that and she did fine. But still, she is not wild about it. Maybe she never will be. But at least she knows how in case of another swimming pool adventure.

Shotze's Mom

Super Boxer
Shotze LOVES to swim. I took her yesterday to a sandbar at the creek and she dove right in and swam like a fish. She would run full speed down the sand then jump into the water and swim out until I called her back. My brother was in the water and she barked her head off at him and when he would splash her she would burn down the sandbar and come back barking. She also was a good "Mom" to the kids. If she thought they were getting to far out, she would swim out to them trying to bring them back in. She had to finally be put on leash because instead of saving them, she would scratch them up and sink them. lol. We are going back this evening so she can have fun. I laughed SO hard yesterday at her. Shotze for one, is a natural born swimmer.
