This Happened to me

Well I know how you feel- In my personal Opinion- Take full custody. My Koda and Vegas were a little out of sorts especially koda- She was "daddy's" baby. I moved out in July and around September she started getting used to everything. It was a long slow process but it worked out fine. I think the girls helped me get through everything easier also. I hate to see people give away their dogs because of Divorce- I'm not saying you were going to but if you know you can take better care of them - Keep them with you. they will adjust but they may need a little extra lovin'.

He's staying with me

He's staying with me! My x is not routine enough to walk him everyday at the same time nor does she belive in crating. Soon enough he'd end up at my house or the pound so he'll be with me. I might just go find a playmate for him. My buddy is moving in soon and he's bringing some birds but I don't think that'll be the same...

You never know about the birds-Boxers are so social that even though it is not the same it might at least be an interesting distraction for him My boy loves ferrets and does big boxer wiggles when ever he gets to see one and especially sniff. Best of luck to you in your "new life" and your boy will be fine as long as he has you to love him-they are very resilient. Though I am sure he would love a "buddy"

Lt. is doing good

Just wanted to thank all of you wonderful posters that helped me get through my little freak out stage. Lieutenant is doing fine in his new home and we have gotten back into our normal routine. He's put on some weight bathroom times and consistency is back to normal and I'm back to spending evenings with him when I get off. So I guess we'll be ok. He does still jerk his head when he hears the thud of music coming down the block because he could always hear his mommas music and knew she was home but I just keep telling him that her and the other dog died in a tragic accident. Thanks for all your opinions on the subject.

He will get better It will take time for him to get used to having just you around. when we got Dakota he was lost for a while. he was in a different home, away from the other dogs he was used to being around.

Now he is very well adjusted, well as a spoiled rotten over grown lap puppy, seat stealer can be...

Glad to hear that your guy is doing better. When we first adopted Fletcher he was so sad looking for like the first two weeks. I used to say he looked like he had the weight of the world on his shoulders. Then my kids came home from their visit with my mom and he was in seventh heaven. He had obviously had kids before. I think a friend for your dog is a great idea if you have the time for two. Good luck to you too. I know a breakup isn't easy.

Glad to see Lieutenant is doing fine the tragic accident line was funny unfortunately he will always miss his mommy(boxers are loyal) our Harley was raised with little girls and our kids are older when ever there is little girls in the neighbourhood playing he always cocks his head to hear if they are his little girls. But he loves our family has adjusted well, is used to a very bothersome boxer(Foreman) and dosen't bother our cats. He was kept in the basement only so he has really adjusted to couches and beds.
