Calling Your Boxer On The Phone

I called my daughter the other day (she lives in Louisiana) and she wasn't home. The answering machine came on so I said hi to Zeke (her boxer). I knew he was there so what the heck...
She has called here before and we put the speaker phone on so she could talk to our dogs. One was a late night phone call and things were okay until she asked them if they wanted to go for a ride. I guess you know what I was doing next.......taking the dogs for a midnight car ride.
I've never had a problem with seperation anxiety with my babies either. I'll have to ask my daughter about her Zeke. I can see where that could be a possible problem for some.

I have talked to them on the phone by having somebody put the phone to their ear but never left a message for them.

I had to do my student teaching about three hours from home. I left Oliver at my house with my husband for the first few weeks. During that time I would call and David would put the phone to his ear, but since Oliver hates anything inanimate he would just attack the phone. I was later able to take him with me and stay at my moms house. He did much better being with me.

I have not ever had a problem with separation anxiety, however my sister did with her boxer and it was awful! He tore up so much stuff. He was so miserable that she finally let him come stay with Oliver in the day time and go home at night. They got another dog and it helped him out a lot.

I have one time a couple months ago. I was working late, so I called and told them mommy was going to be late. Needless to say there was pee all over their room. They must have got sooo excited thinking I was home, that they peed.

I voted yes because, even though my hubby and I don't call them, their Nana does! She lives in Idaho (a good ways from Arkansas) and calls in the evenings. We're those annoying people who are too lazy to get caller ID, so you have to talk to the machine before we pick up - so, Nana will call and say "Lexy! Bailey! Go tell your Momma I'm on the phone!" They don't really react to it much though, they'll just tilt their heads sideways and get that "cute face" on. :p
