Cali had her first romp

Took 10 week old Cali to meet my sister's 9 mo old female Golden today (UTD on shots, very healthy environment) Julie is about 55 lbs and Cali is 14 lbs. Cali had the best time. She was totally the dominant pup over the Golden. It was so funny to see! Poor Julie didn't know what hit her. LOL Does this behavior mean that my Cali will ALWAYS be the dominant one, or was it just because the Golden is quite submissive?

It sounds like typical "let the puppy play" meaning the older dog will allow the puppy to play as it wants with little correction. The pup must play nicely for the older to tolerate, so thats a good thing. Of course, you still need to monitor their play, as the older is still a puppy herself. I would say, if the puppy gets outta hand, the older may just correct her. I doubt she would allow the puppy to abuse her without any warning. But since she is so submissive/tolerant, sounds like she is a great playmate for your pup!

How the puppy plays does become an ingrained behavior if no correction is made. So, it may be up to you to set the boundries before the older is put in a position to. She may not react or correct properly since she is still a kid herself. LOL
