Super Boxer
I'm sooo excited. I just got a call from our local television cable (very popular show) producer (well, his assistant) who said that they are interested in our story! The story is long and complicated - but the short of it is that BYB's owe us $600 deposit - for a puppy that we didn't take. She fell ill, was tiny & the "breeders" could not produce any test results papers for the dam (no hip and no heart). They told us that they did them...
We went to the sire's owners - who said "health tests? did a vet tell you that? they just want to make money! our dogs have always been healthy". Enough said.
When we visited we took pictures - which turned out to be horrific; 12 to 15 Boxers all crated - in one (larger-ish) room; but crated at all times. No blankets, no toys... and all sad eyes...
That was June/July.
Anyway, I reported them to CKC and forwarded the photos to Boxer Rescues... The organizations weren't able to help the dogs though... The rescue couldn't - and CKC; well, they could take away their voting rights(!!!)
As for us - we are out $600 but have been trying to get it back. The "breeders" blocked our phone number... We found out that they also "breed" bull dogs - one who had a tumor - and they are being sued by the pup's owners for surgery costs... All kinds of unpleasant stuff.
So, I wrote to our tv station. The 6 o'clock news has a segment which exposes all dishonesty & evil bad stuff to the public. I wrote to them; and talked to them about responsible breeding; about full animal shelters and the Ontario ban on pit bulls... We talked about how people breed to make a quick buck and risk the lives of their animals; how dogs suffer from hereditary diseases. We also talked about that ban; how irresponsible owners and breeders have trained and bread the dogs to be aggressive - and now many loving dogs and loving owners will suffer. The dogs are not at fault - it's the people...
They said the story is NEWS WORTHY and are going to run it!!! They are going to educate puppy buyers against BYBs!!! They will use us as an example - but this is way greater than us. Maybe some people will walk away more cautious and suspicious: MAYBE they won't support BYBs - no matter how cute the puppies will be. MAYBE they'll learn!
The station is doing research on relevant stuff; I'm providing them will all that I have; any relevant legislation; CKC code of ethics; CVMA Code of Practice for Canadian Kennel Operations; Code of Practice for CKC Member Breeders....
I need your help: what else?
I hope this will help people realize how bad BYBs are; how animals are a big responsibility; how they need love - and a life long commitment. We have to protect our babies; and the babies who have no one to protect them...
