It's just amazing how people just open their mouths without even thinking. Even if your dog was stupid, which i have yet to see a stupid boxer, what right did he have to make such a comment? Would you do that to someone's child? That's insane! I am very sensative about what people say about my baby, I can't believe you were calm You have much better control than I do.
Regarding the lady in the car with the boxer in heat, that sounds like only something they'd make up for TV or something. That's so crazy!

Come to Oklahoma........you will see things almost daily that will make your jaw drop and your eyes pop out. They are a different breed here. Had the owners of the terrified Boxer stuck around to talk instead of continuing on their mission, I might have offered to add her to my crew. Heaven knows she would have been better off! No puppies, cushy furniture......and a whole lot more affection than what I was seeing.

Living in town stinks, and now that a couple friends and I went in on a parcel of land outside of town, we will have room for the crew to grow once we move out there. (Between the 3 households now, we have 6 Boxers, 3 Boston Terriers, a Coonhound Mix and 2 Beagles.) We spent the weekend "in the country" to let the dogs all get used to the surroundings and each other.

You are right - this is the part of the world where every weekend someone new is set up in front of Wal-Mart giving puppies & kitties away. If they'd just spend a few extra dollars on spaying & neutering, we wouldn't have to have pounds & shelters!

My favorite.....went to buy sparklers and little fireworks for the kids this weekend at one of the MANY fireworks stands, and they had an old playpen there with free puppies in it. Well, they were free to buy, but considering they all had runny/snotty noses, I am sure they won't be "free" for long in their new homes! There were Lab/Rottie mixes, Dalmatian/??? mixes and some kind of hound mixes in there. The kids migrated towards the pups and the parents did their shopping. My son wanted one of the hound mixes and I told him no.

I'm from the central part, but I figure around here it really doesn't matter - I've lived here my whole life, so I figure it's just a select group of ignorant people like everywhere else...or at least I hope. I love Oklahoma, but no so much the people!!

I am in the Lawton/Ft Sill area.....SW OK. Love the area.....just not all the crazy people that keep popping up in it.

Ahh, so you've got the Military people! Some are good & some are bad about animals! My aunt is stationed at Ft. Riley in Kansas & she rescues everything that ends up in base housing, which is apparently a lot with people relocating all the time. My dad was an Army brat & he said every move they made they had to leave behind their pets...So I bet your area has a stray problem too, but I guess what area doesn't anymore!?!

I live in nearly downtown in my town of 15,000....the other day animal control was across the street from me picking up a stray GOAT! It was one of the miniature kind & it was so covered in fleas/ticks, etc. that they had to put it down! So around here its not just puppies & kitties - we get the farm animal neglect too! I'm still pushing the idea of a licensing process for animal owners...might be a start!?!

**Tonight I was walking Romie & I ran into the "Dumb Dog" guy again. Romie was excited b/c he was petting her & so she was jumping on him. I told her to sit & she came & sat right next to me - he said that he was amazed that she could do that at such a young age & maybe she was going to turn out to be a smart girl afterall! LoL I was so proud that she actually proved the guy wrong!

That's ridiculous. I had one kid behind me once at petsmart tell me that he had a boxer named stupid because "they's just 'bout the stupidest dogs ever" ?? All I could do at the time was just look at him wondering if he was really talking the way he was and how HE had the nerve to call the dog stupid. But I have a comeback now and I'll just tell people that I've never seen a stupid boxer just stupid owners

Some people. I get so frustrated with them. I can't believe how rude some people can be. Forgive me for sounding corny, but I was always told "if you can't say something nice, don't open your mouth". I'm glad to hear your baby made him see how wrong he was.

About the boxer girl in heat....how can someone treat their pet like that? I constantly look at websites for rescues all the time and it is the saddest thing I think to see these older dogs with nipples sagging who were used as breeding stock then dumped when the can't produce litters anymore.
