Thank you to all who wrote letters on Buster's behalf. Here is the result of so many dog lovers coming together to bring about justice. Please see below for the end of the trial of Buster's attacker.

To all our friends who helped rescue and rehabilitate Buster, the boxer beaten with a hammer and left for dead in Florida two years ago, we wanted to update you. Barry Colbert was initially charged with very little, until everyone wrote letters to the lawmakers and newspapers. The charges and bail were upped, and after about a million postponements, Colbert was finally tried this week. He was found guilty on all counts. He has been in jail for two years as he could not raise bail money, and we are hoping for many more jail years to come.
As for the woman he beat so badly at the same time he nearly killed (and did blind) Buster, Florida Boxer Rescue and many boxer rescue groups down there helped Jackie for two years; resumes, clothing, training, job interviews, transportation, lawyers, money. She appeared at the trial and testified on Colbert's behalf, mouthing "I love you" to him during the trial. Perhaps when he broke her jaw and skull the damage was irreparable. Her children are still in foster care and if she takes Colbert back they could remain there.
The good news is, Buster is safe and well and living in the west. Thanks for being there for the animals. Only because of your letters did these charges even get filed and prosecuted.
