Buster is getting a skin sister/brother!!!

We are having a baby( a skin one this time).. ofcourse I am a little bit nervous on how Buster will react to a baby. I get so many advices from people on how to handle the first meeting between a dog and a baby. Buster is an extremely friendly dog but I still I am a bit worried. I know many of you have brought newborns home to your dog. What did you do???? I still have plenty of months to figure out what to do but I would appriciate some advice from other boxer owners.

congradulation on your pregnancy appicon when i was pregnant with my son (15 yrs ago) we had a rottie and every litttle thing we bought and brought into the house we let him smell and investigate, when we brought my son home i sat down with him and let bruiser come over and sniff and lick,him all the time my husband and i were giving him plenty of praise and petting. i included him in everything we did together from bath time, to walking the baby, to playing on the floor he was always part of the routine. my son grew up with a best friend he will always rememer.

We got our first boxer when our youngest was 2 weeks old, the other boys were 2 and 3 years old. Rocky smelled everything, learned from the moment he came home that he played gently with the boys. Of course he also learned that he was the center of their world.

Bucca is right, he was definitely their best friend!

I totally agree with Bucca. Present everything to Buster, including the baby. He will understand that this is his baby and he will be a great protector and friend to your new baby. Congratulations!

Congratulations!!! That's always wonderful news!!! I don't know from experience but I've heard that you should bring one of the baby's receiving blankets home from the hospital prior to the baby coming home and letting the furbaby smell it while being very gentle with it. All of the other suggestions posted are also things I've heard about. They're all great ideas.

We have a new baby in our house rather unexpectedly (a foster placement) and didn't have time to prepare Vic at all.
But she's done just wonderfully aside from being VERY licky. She lays on the floor next to the playpen when the baby sleeps, she lays on the floor nearby when he plays...
she's just done fantastically!!
I certainly recommend all of the above information provided, but keep in mind that boxers aren't just 'any' dog!!

We have a baby girl that is less than 4 months old and the dogs are absolutely wonderful with her. If you look at my gallery, you could see a picture of the 3 of them. I was extremely worried when I was pregnant because I knew they were wonderful with my other 2 skin kids, but I wasn't too sure about a little baby. But from the time that the baby has been home, they've been great. I just made sure to let them smell the baby as much as they wanted to. Now they know that when the baby is on the floor, No roughhousin.
