I have a two year old boxer and from the time he was six months old, he has gotten these bumps all over his body. I took him the the vet and he said that some boxers in general get these types of bumps. There is no cure. He said that it wont be his last time to get them and he was right. Does any one else have this problem?

Boxers are known for getting lumps and bumps. I was told by a vet to keep an eye on them, if they are growing and getting larger, I would be concerned and have them checked out. Did you vet feel there was no need to check out your boxer's bumps? I hate to panic over every little bump but you have to be concerned when they start changing in appearance. Our girl had a hysciatoma removed a few years ago and the results came back fine. I took her in for that since it was growing and I was worried. I am now worried since I found a pea size lump under my girl's mole, but there is no change. Yesterday, my hubby found a pimple on her upper lip. Now I will keep an eye on that too. So it is a popular occurence in our babies. If you don't feel like you got a good enough answer from your vet seek someone else's opinion. Maybe it will put your mind at ease.;)

hmmm...
how ironic I was gonna post AGAIN about this topic. I have had 2 bumps on Tomi byopsied. The first one came back as nothing..nothing inside of it, NOTHING..just a bump of fatty tissue, a mass the vet called it. The second one came back as an allergic reaction to something. He said to watch for this type of bump..Tomi is white, soo on him it looks like a raised pink bump. It bothers him a little and I noticed the other day that it sorta itches him too..My vet said that would just go away in a couple of weeks and it did. NOOOOOW though..My roomates and I were giving him his love for the nite and found I would say about 7 NEW bumps on him..NOW mind you..this is within only a couple of days..we pet him a lot and haven't found this many before..He is only 6 years old. My roomate is a vet tech and said to keep an eye on him and if they grow, then take him in and get it byopsied. Until then..Just don't stress about it. All of them look exactly like that one bump that the vet said was an allergic reaction to something..which is what I am hoping for:)
I came here to see if anyone has had the same allergic bumps with their boxer? Sorry for the BOOK tonite:)

I wish it was just one or two on Clyde. The first time this happened my hubby called me at work to tell me he was taking clyde to the vet. I told him to bring him by my shop so I could take a look at him. I was shocked. clyde is 85 pounds and the bumps were so bad that you could not see the definition of his body!! His eyes were swollon shut. It was bad. I was terrified. We rushed him to the vet and he gave him some antibiotics that would heel the bumps. My vet said that alot of boxers are proned to this and that it was some kind of alergic reaction to something but doesnt know what. The bumps were gone in two days. It was scary I thought he had gotton attacked by bees outside. Now when he has a break out we give him a benadril tablet and it clears up. Its something we have gotten use to now. But I hate it

Barney, while not showing bumps, has had his eyes swell for no apparent reason a number of times, now. Similar to the reaction I've seen in my own eyes when I get something to which I'm allegic in them.

Vet can't find the cause so we just treat it with benedryl and it seems to alleviate it.

Reminds me of a boxer I had years ago... had his own on-staff dermatologist.

Thank God for pet health insurance!

Definately Hives! Hammer has had this happen too, we figure it's some sort of creepy crawly that bit him. When the face starts swelling (anaphylaxis) he should be given liquid benadryl and taken to the vet immediately. Anaphylactic shock is not something you want to mess with as it can cause a severe drop in blood pressure and death. An injection of prednisone or epinephrine is needed often in these cases. Benadryl is fine for hives alone, but watch that swelling! My vet gave me two tablets of prednisone for Hammer in case he gets it again.

Take it from someone that experiences anaphylaxis a lot....I like to spend time outdoors and I tend to attract wasps  and I am severely allergic.

Hey Linda. In one of you pictures there is a glass ball with a boxer picture in it. Is that Ginger? If so where could I find something like that? That is so cute and I would love to get one of clyde. Sorry no pictures of Clyde yet, Havent quite figured out how to post pics. Been trying for a while now and nothing.

Hi Wendi: The glass plate is not a picture of Ginger. I ordered it through the Danbury Mint, it is called "His Master's Call". I just had to get it.

My dog is 14 mos. and I have the same problem with her. She gets these little red bumps all over her that look almost like pimples. One time she did swell up , her face and everything, her eyes were almost shut. Good thing I saw her when I did. I immedietly took her to the vet and they gave her a cortizone shot and some medicine. They said it was some sort of allergic reaction to something, it could have been anything. Every time I go to the vet I ask them about it and they say nothing is wrong. Its very common in Boxers and that she might just grow out of it, she has sensitive skin. Does anyone know if it would be harmful to her if I just gave her a Benadryl pill every so often to prevent it?
