Bumps won't leave!

Aargh! What a week I am having. Taya went to the vet Friday to have a mast cell tumour removed from her ear and then Mateus broke out in hives yesterday. He had a serious reaction to something and we can't pin point it. Took him to the vet yesterday as his eyes started to swell shut. She gave him a dose of steroids and sent us home with extra in case in happened again. He also had some benadryl yesterday and the bumps subsided around mid afternoon. He did get a couple more at night but nothing too bad.

This morning he was full of them again! His eyes are ok though. So I gave him his 1/2 pill of Prednisone and some more benadryl, he got better again, but now they are back!

He has never had a reaction to anything! The only new thing in our environment is Taya's plastic cone to protect her from scratching her ear. She also had those elastic bandages around her head, maybe the residue could be bothering him. I am stumped! And bummed, I have one dog trying to heal from a pretty traumatic surgery and now the other one is full of bumps!

Taya, by the way is holding up like a champ. She just looks like she has got a big bite taken out of her ear. We are hoping the tests come back in our favour and that her margins are clean.

Does anyone have any other ideas to relieve these bumps? We also gave him a bath with oatmeal shampoo which temporarily helped. Any suggestions would be fantastic.

OMG, when it rains, it pours! I hope you can get to the bottom of what's causing the hives. It sounds like you are doing all you can to try and relieve Mateus. Ty and I are sending lots of healing vibes to Mateus and Taya! Please keep us posted on them.

Bumps are the same!!

Thank you. Please if anyone has any ideas, let me know. It is now almost 8 p.m. and he still has a full fledged break out. The only exception is that the bumps are smaller than the first breakout and his eyes are not swollen. His ears even have hives though! He had his last dose of medication at 5:30 p.m. I will be calling the vet first thing in the morning.

I have heard that allergies build up over time. I am thinking if it is a food allergy, could he just have a sudden break out like this? I am going to do some research right now. He has been on the same food for quite a long time, so I am not positive that is what is causing this, but I am just trying to weigh everything.

I know this post is a bit old, but I'm just wondering if you ever found out what was causing the allergic reaction??? We're going through a similar case with our 2 year old female. She broke out severely Friday afternoon (swelling and hives). We gave her benedryl which seemed to stop it from progressing, but a couple hours later, more hives started to reappear. We took her into the pet hospital where she got a shot of steroids and benedryl. That helped, but now on Saturday more hives started reappearing??? I immediately bought new food (was on Canidae and Wellness and switched to Natural Balance Fish and Potato), but I'm at a loss of what to do. We're now giving her Benedryl every 6 hours (50 mg) and prednisone 10 mg twice a day. What could be causing this!!! She's had two reactions in the past (one 6 months ago and one 2 weeks ago), but all were successfully treated with Benedryl alone!! HELP!!!

Bumps

My boxer Levi has also had a problem with bumps. His whole back was covered in them. At first the vet thought it was food allergies but changing his food did not help. I took him back on Tuesday and we saw a different vet in our group. He took one look and said that it was a bacterial infection. He has put him on antibiotics for 5 weeks. I could see a difference in just two days of the antibiotics. You might was to ask the vet about it being something other than allergies.
