i just noticed that Bruno has maybe like 8 or 10 small bumps on his back. they feel like little mosquito bites. he isnt scratching at them or anything. also. i put a frontline on him may a 2-3 days ago and noticed that where i put his frontline he is shedding more hair on that area. do you think he is allergic or something more serious. i really dont mind stopping the frontline and starting a more hollistic approach. any help pls.

My dog has the same thing, especially in the summertime...i think it's bug bites. Mine doesn't scratch at them either but if you pick them he gets mad! lol

The may flies love him also so I think it's mayflies and mosquitos.

glad to hear. hopefully its just those bugs biting him and nothing more.

My dogs have had this before too...If they don't go away, I would give them a benadryl, it could be a number of things. Bee sting, fly bites, spider bites, but I don't think it's anything to worry about. Just keep an eye on them.

My Sweet Gidget got hives all of the time. She was a very allergic dog and never really found out everything she was alergic to. We eliminated chicken, wheat, and corn and she was mostly on fish and potatoes, but she still would get hives sometimes so we think it was also something environmental she was allergic to. She would get a depo shot every 6 to 8 weeks to help. She would scratch her skin raw sometimes so I also had a spray to put on her. Sometimes she was so miserable scratching.

I hope those bumps turn into bites instead of an allergy. Keep watch and if comes again, see if your dog ate something different.

Roxi has also suffered from hives, but in her case it was caused by a course of cephalexin. She had to get IV fluids and antihistamine to bring them back down.

I agree that it sounds like some type of bug bite. If they don't go away soon, or more appear, I'd suggest a vet visit. Lumps/bumps on boxers scare me to death.

Minx used to get these bumps quite often, she looked like she was attacked by mosquitos. Then we had her tested for allergies. That was how we found the source of the bumps, she has major allergies. She is allergic to many food ingredients and airborne things also. So if the bumps do not clear up, allergy tests may be in order.

it turned out to be the fronline we used. his hair really shed on the area where i placed it. gave him a good bath, now the bumps are gone, still missing some hair though.
