My 14 month-old, Montanna, has these bumps all around were her collar sits on her neck. The used to be all over her legs and back as well. I took her to see our vet ,who said it could be allergies and gave her some antibiotics and an antihistamin. `Tanna was on these meds for over a month and she still has the bumps. Our vet told us to use the redness of her eyes as an indacator as to when the allergic reaction was getting better. I've been told that redness in the eyes is a Boxer trait. I've switched her food and monitered what sees around outside, to no avail. I'm also looking for a new vet. Any thoughts or suggestions?!?

Thanks a Bunch for any help,
Laura and Montanna

I dont have any answers for you...but one question...

My Dayla also has bumps around her neck. Hers are very hard and sometimes I feel them more than other times. Are Montanna's hard as well?

We have an appointment to go to the doctors on the 27th of this month to take a look at them...

What kind of collar do you use? Some dogs have allergic reactions to nylon collars and they also become dirty and germ-ridden as well. You can throw the nylon collars in the wash and that may help.

I use a flat leather collar and I also clean it regularly with some leather cleaner and then clean the cleaner off of the leather so that it doesn't affect the dogs.

RE: bumps on neck

Thanks for the advice on the collar Dan, she does wear a nylon no-slip collar. I'll try switching her to a leather. I can't believe I didn't think of that!

Her bumps are small and hard, simialar to bug bites. But there is no scab or puncture on or near the bumps. Good luck at the vet VABoxer. Let me know if you find out anything good. I've had no luck with our current vet.

Thanks so much,
Laura and Montanna

Those sound exactly like Dayla's bumps...
She also wears a nylon collar...I tried to switch her to the leather ones but when I came home hers and Hook's were ripped to shreads on the floor:(

my little boy has that too....
but i thought it was from all of the playing he does. i take him to the dog park at least three times a week and he plays with his girlfriend, Mandy - a boxer, on the other days - so i just assumed it was from all of the playbiting that is going on.

looks like lots of little bug bites, right?

fill me in on what the vets say - thanks!

Bumps on neck...

Hi My Boxer, Dana has had allergic responses to outdoor
elements, sounds just like her bumps she had. She does wear
a leather collar with no problem, when she comes across some-
thing that causes a allergic reation I give her 1 capsul of Benadryl
she weighs 65 pounds. On the other hand if it doesnt go away
boxers are prone to cancer, so dont ignore it. Im in Calif. so dont know any Vets out there. Wish I had the right answer for you, dont give up and everything will be ok. Julie
