My precious Toby has bumps all over his back and has some red bumps on his belly. They are scabbing over and are now very itchy for him. But he isn't losing hair around them. He is normally very itchy with allergies. Is this an allergic reaction to something? I brought him to the vet and he didn't seem to pinpoint it. He is trying antibiotics to see if it's a bacterial infection. Has anyone else seen this?

Over the summer Zeke had bumps all over his back and down his hind legs. We had recently bathed him and we had also given him some dog cookies. This was the first time he had these treats. The vet said it could have been either the shampoo (which we had been using from the time he was a puppy) or the dog cookies. We changed shampoos and haven't given him the cookies since. No bumps. Did you change treats or anything like that?

I had changed back to an old food that he used to eat, but he has been on it for about 3-4 weeks (would it take that long for a reaction?). I went last night and bought an all natural food in case that was it. I am bringing him back to the vet tomorrow because it doesn't look like it's getting better. I feel so sorry for him. I know he itches all over. I keep feeding him Benedryl.

My little Roxie has really bad allergies and she will get bumps under her chin and on her lip. Usually antibiotics clear it up for her. I hope whatever the vet gives you will help. Good Luck.

Well, the first time I went to the vet he put him on antibiotics. By the end of the week, they weren't working so I brought him back Saturday. The bumps have spread to his head and face and he is very itchy. The vet took 3 skin tissue samples and has sent them to a pathologist. I'll let you know how it goes. Poor Toby! I feel so sorry for him!

What is it with Boxers & bumps? Just type bumps or scabs into the search engine on this site and it'll throw loads of posts up regarding them.
We've had two episodes with scabby lumps/bumps with Lola and been to the vets for tests, biopsy etc but everything came back clear so they said it was deep pyroderma and put them down to allergies.
1 came up the other week so I slapped on some germoline (antiseptic cream) and low and behold it's gone (thankfully)
Good luck with your bumps

Toby's better

Well,
Sorry I haven't updated. I have been out of town for Christmas. Toby is getting much better. His bumps (now scabs) are falling off and leaving him hairless in those areas. But they are going away....knock on wood! The vet put him on Z/D dogfood for allergies and it seems to be helping. He also has him on a low dose of steroids to help with itching. Thanks for all of your responses!
