I hope somebody out there can help me. I have a 21 month old fawn female, Bailey. Just the other day i noticed this half dollar sized bump on her left leg near her paw. I have pushed on it, squeezed it and otherwise prodded it but it doesn't seem to bother her at all. There is even still some hair attached to this. It looks kind of scabby but i can't tell. With it not bothering her, I am not sure whether to take her to the Vet or to just wait and see since it's definately not bothering her. Any ideas..?

Thanks,
Mary

Did it just appear or did you just notice it? I would keep an eye on it for a few days but if it does not go away, I would visit the vet. My first dog survived 3 cancerous lumps in her lifetime because we did frequent body checks and caught them small. Only once did one of the lumps turn out to be benign. I think she just wanted to visit her friends at the vet again. :)

Lambeau had a bump on his side that was sort of raised and scabby, but with hair still intact too. We took him to the vet for other reasons and showed them the spot (he also was not bothered by it at all, even when we touched, poked and prodded) and the vet pulled the hair right out of it and said it looked like ringworm. That is the only spot he has. They ran tests on it and it came back as ringworm. They gave us an ointment to put on it. Don't know if this is what your lump may be, but it is worth a try to get it checked out so that it doesn't spread if it is. He was not scratching it at all and still doesn't, and I have no idea where he would have gotten it from...

I guess I just noticed the bump. I am sure that i would have seen it though as it is very visible on her leg but anyway it is there. It is wart like and rough. I am taking her to the vet next week. Thanks for responding.

Rex had a bump on his paw this past April. When the vet looked at it he told me to always check Rex and bring him in to get looked at if any mysterious bumps appear. Boxers are very prone to tumors and cancer and he likes to be aggressive in this breed when treating them even if he's being overcautious. Anyway, he gave me ointment in case it was some sort of allergy-because they are also prone to allergies. Luckily that is what it was and the ointment took it away. I check him at least once a week now when I'm petting him and babying him (of course). Good luck with your baby!

My Greta had a lump appear as a scab at first and then the hair went away and it felt like fatty tissue like a lump a solid one. Thought it was cancer but the vet said it was just a bug bite that launched into a baterial infection. Scared me to death. it is getting better with the ointment he gave me but scared us to death. Good luck
