bum leg...do you think he slept on it wrong or should i see a vet

well, early this morning i felt bub doing circles on the bed. it felt different so i woke up and realized he was not putting weight on his back right leg. so, we were thinking maybe slept on it wrong. well, for the rest of the day he has been running and jumping around, but you can definetly tell he favors one back leg over the other. so, do you think he slept on it wrong or do you think i need to see the vet? any help would definetly be appreciated.

It could be he just slept on it wrong. Pooh limps a bit once in awhile and favors a back leg if she lays on it for too long. I'd watch him for a day or so and if he continues to favor it,give your vet a call.

well, it has been a few days. but, brutus has been getting around just fine. he still runs and jumps like a nut. so, hopefully he just slept on it wrong.

I'm glad to hear that Brutus' leg is doing better. These silly babies do keep us on our toes!

It's great that your baby's leg is better. The things we have to worry about but they are our babies...

Atlas will favor his right hind leg sometimes when he first gets up. I think his leg might go to sleep the same way mine does when I lay on it wrong.

Glad to hear Brutus's leg is doing better. Colby did that a couple of times and I panicked thinking he had dysplasia. He (knock on wood) hasn't done it since, so it could've been either sleeping it on wrong, or maybe even just straining the muscle while running around like a crazy man! Give him a big squeeze from me and lots of kisses from Colby and Skye.

i am and was worried about dyplasia. he sometimes (seldom) still doesn't put all of his weight on the back right leg. but, i think he might have strained a muscle. if it was dyplasia i am sure it would be much worse. so, i try and keep him from moving around, but he is a nut case i am just glad to see him doing ok.

If you think it might be a muscle injury make him rest for a few days. One of my dogs hurt a muscle in is front shoulder and because I didn't force him to rest it properly it became a reoccuring problem. Finally he had to be on very restricted excersise for almost a month to really let it heal. Better to deal with it now than later.
