What do you all think of the bullboxer? I'ts a mix of boxer and the staffordshire bull terrier. I understand that many boxer breeders think its a bad mix. I was wondering why exactly, besides the fact that we dont need more breeds creating more possibly unwanted dogs. On the surface it seems like it would be a nice looking friendly dog. Ive heard that mixed breeds are generally healthier and live longer than pure breeds. I like the staffy (the nanny dog) quite a bit, though ive never met one.

Well we got a bullboxer as a playmate for austin and she is a wonderful little dog.She is very smart(that is the boxer of course lol)and very good with all my kids and cats.I think it is the way you raise a dog is a reflection on your personality.

I don't agree with crossing two breeds and giving it a name. It just as bad as all the BYB's out there trying to make money off of the poodle mixes! I don't think that the Staff has any characteristics that would make the boxer a better dog. I like the boxer just the way he is!!!

I agree, Jan. I don't know why people feel it necessary to take two beautiful purebred dogs and turn them into a third breed. To me, this is experimental and serves no useful purpose. I think breeders should be concentrating on breeding out all the health problems characteristic to each breed rather than "discovering" crossbreeds which combine the problems. In our Petshops here, you pay the same amount these days for a cockapoo or schnoodle as you do for a purebred lab or spaniel. These dogs are nothing more than man-assisted "mutt" creations. While just as cute and loveable as any purebred, this crossbreeding creates a whole new set of problems. Now I'll hop down from my soapbox. Sorry about that! :o I just happen to be very passionate about this topic. Have a super day! :)

Just read my post (above) and realized that I came across rather rudely. Please accept my apology if I've offended anyone with this post. It wasn't my intent. As I mentioned in the post above, I'm very passionate about this topic and tend to fly off at the mouth! Have a super day! :)

I see what you are saying, but we must not forget that most pure breeds today came from mixing other older breeds. The boxer being one of these, the bullmastiff is great example of crossbreeding. Also i think in many cases crossbreeding rids the common problems not multiplies them. Yes, there are some pointless fad type crosses but many of them do serve good purposes.
To say it's as bad as byb's is in my opinion a misconception, these breeders can be just as involved w/genetic testing and finding good homes as any other good breeder.
