Hello everyone and Happy Easter!
My 1 year old boxer has an aggression issue with my daughter play tent. Its in our breezeway and whenever Bubba goes into it, He because aggressive when Its time to go into the house. I can't leave him in the breezeway because of his serperation anxiety, Because He'll destroy everything. When I try to get him out of the tent he'll "play bite" me. He'll do that even if I touch the tent. I don't understand why he does this, and for the safety of himself and others, it needs to stop. He always gets very "hyper" once I do get him inside. Please help!!

Bubba have been through a lot! He was a stray, he's been with a couple different families, he was hit by a car, and instead of taking him to the vet the ppl who hit him where going to shoot him. Lucky one of my family memembers where there and stop that, which is how he came to be apart of my family. I wanted to add that in case it may play into the tent thing.

That is so freaky. YOu said he was a "stray". Well it could be something to the same extent that you hear about dogs that come from bad homes. Like for example snapping at you when you come near them when eating. It could be something he remembers when he was living with the previous owners.??? It would scare me. But, try and work with him. Let him know its ok.

Yeah, I was thinking that too. Thats why I added that Info at the bottom. For what he's been through...he's an awesome dog. It kills me to think someone could be mean to him like that. My Cousin said that it VA where she was living when she found him that there are no lease laws down there, so the town she lived in was filled with "drop-offs". I guess one of her neighbors used to feed about 30 cats...and there was a pack of wild dogs. ( been strays for a little to long) Its just so sad!

I'm wondering if maybe while he was a stray he had to protect where he slept..."his house" you know?

P.S~ my vet said that he couldn't say if Bubba was full boxer or not ( his snout looked longer then it should) if i put a photo up could someone tell me? He said He had to be atleast 3/4

I would get rid of the tent, as least temporarily. I would also take him to obedience classes asap. Make sure that you go to one that used positive reinforcement only. I would also adopt the "no free lunch" policy. Make him work for everything. He sits for his dinner, when he want to go outside etc. If he doesn't come when he is called, I would not allow him outside without a leash. He could just drag a long leash around and when you want him to come in, you just go out and pick up the leash and bring him in.

Good luck!

Thanx Jan,
I've started the " no free lunch" policy....The tent is now someone he is not permitted...and found training classes that use positive reinforcement. He really is a good boy, If you think about it the longest his been with one family is 6 months...and Bubba is a year old....that has to be rough. He's an awesome dog!

Hey,
The pic thats up in my gallery isn't the greatest to really see what Bubba looks like...They other one didn't get approved ( i'm not sure why) and I don't know what i did, but bubba is a fawn not a brindle
"boxer". I tried the other pic again

I don't know why the picture wouldn't have been approved. If you posted it to the wrong gallery that could be the reason. I wouldn't post it again unless you figure out why it wasn't approved. Thats a good way to get banned and I don't imagine you want that. :(

Bubba looks very cute. He almost looks like he could just be a poorly bred boxer, hence the long nose. Do you know for sure that he is a mix, or are you just guessing.
