We use them to shed out horses (they have hair similar to short haired dogs) and they grab the loose hair. My horse loves it--I never thought about using one on my dogs.

Rubber Scrubber Brush is better than Zoom Groom

I actually found something a little cheaper and IMO better than the zoom groom. I got it at petco. It's similar to the zoom groom only the rubber teeth have 3 tiny massaging points on the ends that help get the hair out better (and massage better too). It's hard to describe, you need to see it! The other side has these long smooth bars on one end that squeegee excess water from the coat and these tiny points on the other end that could be used for grooming also, or massaging.
