I'll try to make it short. Me and a lady from my work both bought pups from the same person out of the newspaper both males both great dogs. It been seven months now and for the past month me and my wife have been wanting another boxer. Well we got our wish yesterday. As I past the lady at work yesterday in the hall she asked me if I was still thinking about getting another boxer. I said yeah she told me that her landlord didn't want her having three dogs and that she needed to pay 500$ (Pet Deposit) or move. She told me she would rather sell me her pup and I told her I'd be happy to have him. How could I not they almost look like twins. So Stonewall was really excited when I got home last night and brought in his brother (einstien). It's real obvious they know they're brothers. Needless to say they are both very hyper boxers my boxer is off the wall but thats ok he's always been that way and I've fine with that better active than lazy. But last night was probably the longest night I had since we got him. When we first got home (7pm) the pups began playing. They continued to play and play for a few more hours until it was time to head up stairs to go to bed (10pm) but still they continued to play and play. Stonewall just wouldn't let the other dog sniff around and get used to his new home. Needless to say the play continued on until midnight when I decided the only way I was going to get some sleep would be to seperate them I tried every thing one in the kennel dowstairs and one up stairs and they just wined and barked for each other. So I tried to put one in my sisters room (roomate) and the other in my room but Stonewall just clawed at the door. By the time 2am came I had one downstairs on the couch with me and my wife had one upstairs in bed with her. I got 3 hours of sleep and woke up early to get ready for work and again the playing continues I tried to feed them but niether would eat. The crate the lady from my work gave me was so small there was no way I would think about making the dog go in it while we went to work. She said he stays in it everyday but I don't see how. Luckily I have a huge crate for my dog that came with a divider. So hopefully a few hours close but seperate will help them settle down. I just don't know what to do to solve the problem. I have to sleep and they need to learn to chill but how do you tell dogs not to play?
Congrats on your new boy!! The first night is always nuts, so I'm sure this will get less and less exciting for them.
