OK, I thought this was just a puppy thing, but he hasn't grown out of it. Anytime I try to sweep the floor, shovel the driveway, or vaccuum the carpet Quincy goes absolutely nuts. He growls like he is going to rip it to shreds. He grabs it in his teeth and snaps. He lunges and swats. Needless to say he makes a bigger mess than what I had before. Now I have to put him in a different room when I clean. This is not a big deal. I'm wonderng if this is a symptom of a bigger problem and if anyone else's baby does this. I swear he comes running if he even hears me open the closet. Any comments??

Rocky attacks the vaccuum and barks like crazy. He used to do it to my blow dryer as well but I guess now he understands it is not going to hurt mom. I have to put him in another room when I run the sweeper or like I said he goes nuts!

Broom? Vacuum Cleaner? Shovel? What are these? :D

Ok, I know what they are but they are RARELY used at my house :D

I have one of each. Maggie runs into another room when I run the vacuum, but she tries to bite the broom and of course has to "inspect" every particle of dust that is being swept up.

Susie loves to bark and "attack" the vicious vacuum cleaner. She will lunge and bite at it and carry on like it was her mortal enemy!

Therefore, I try not to clean too much. It upsets the dogs too much ;) That's my story, and I'm sticking to it !!!!!

Brighid runs from the vacuum and the broom. However when I am using the push mower or the weed eater in the backyard she tries to attack them.

Brutus has this thing for the vaccuum and ALL the attachments. He'll attack the head of the vaccuum do his little attack dance and chase it round when I am trying to clean. I know I shouldn't but it's funny to watch when I have the hose attachment on. I'll poke him in the chest with it and when he grabs it with his mouth, his jowls get sucked into it!! It's hilarious because he'll kind of pause and then go right back to his attack. His facial expression is just too much to see!!

Olli does the same things too. He thinks it is a great game i am playing when i clean the house. He barks, bites at and bounces around in font of the vacuum, dustbuster, broom, and mop. He likes to try to grab the dusting rag while i am dusting. When he was younger i had to put him in another room while i cleaned, anymore i just have to tell him "no" and he will quit. I think it is so funny to see him do these things. I have gotten use to him doing it and don't really mind it so much anymore. Oh i almost forgot another thing he goes after is the hair dryer. There are probably more things he does this with but like i said i am use to it and don't pay as much attention to him doing it anymore.

Does anyone have an explanation for why they do this? Is it the noise or the motion or the shape? Does it some instinct they have? To me those is just an inadimant object but not to them!

Minka is ordinarily very relaxed and quiet but get her going with the vacuum and she actually barks! She also gets going with the dust wand or the squigee when the gas stating attendants do the windows.
