I've been there!!

When Devo was about 1 and a half, he came running up the deck stairs...his leg slid under the step and he kept running....fractured his leg and broke 2 toes...I've never heard a sound like what came out of his mouth!!! (and it was 4 AM to boot!!!). I carried him up and down the stairs and got him to the vets at 8:00 AM the next morning. He ate 2 splints off and we put him in a cast. He got out of the yard and ran into the pond, soaking the cast and forcing us to take it off!

They seem to know to take it a little easier when they're hurt...Devo made a full recovery, but 2 months ago playing soccer he did a back flip and broke his back pinky toe...I heard it snap. Poor little guy-took him to the vet and of course, like with humans, there isn't anything you can do about it except keep him off it..after 2 weeks or so he wasn't limping and we're back to our games!!

Best of luck!!

Keeping boxers quiet!!

Koolba broke 3 toes at 8 weeks old and was in a full cast for 4 weeks. It was HELL! However, during that time, she turned into even more of a chihuahua than she had been before. Frankly, I think it helped us bond even more (if possible) because I wouldn't let her out of my sight. She had to be crated when I couldn't watch her, because she "felt no pain." We had to pay $26 three times because she a) peed on the cast, b) ripped up the cast c) loosened the cast. Sheesh! Good luck!
