Completely Boxer Crazy
Picked the crew up from daycare last night. Christos made friends with a GSD that is roughly the same age. Kim said they romped and wrestled together all day with appropriate breaks. She videotaped it. He was so funny but amazingly submissive with this other puppy. I don't know if it is because the shepherd is just all legs?? But they played together nice all day. Kim said at one point the shepherd had our Boxer pinned down and our female Boxer came over and stepped in and broke it up. Too funny. I never expected her to mother him. It just is not in her personality. She is the princess and everything is about her. She is so bossy normally.

Everyone came home exhausted and all they wanted to do was sleep which was nice to be able to snuggle with him without the Kraken Teeth. LOL

Puppy :) she's putting me through the loops!

:) I need to find a safe playdate for her!!! Sounds like it would teach her more than what I could. Lately she's been using her paws more while playing too haha! so adorable! Awwww that's adorable that she's watching out for your little one.

Any tips for leash training. "trying" to get her used to wearing a collar and she absolutely hates it!
Even tried adding the leash but the was just too much for her. She just wants to eat it.....
I was using bits of a biscuit for walk but I guess I need to use the chicken breast for her walks as well.

She'll be 10 weeks Friday and I cannot believe how fast he last two weeks have been!

I love the nights that she plays so hard that she'll just fall asleep just about anywhere or when she runs into her kennel to sneak her sleep in while we're having human dinner. No begging yet thank god!

Her biting is still bad and I have no idea what else to do but keep on redirecting and walking away :p She is definitely a stubborn girl. Sometimes she'll pretend to not hear me call her and it drives me crazy lol or she'll try to play chase but she wants me to run after her but I know I shouldn't :d I don't want her to think running from me is okay.

Whoever mentioned adding a tiny bit of coconut oil to her food is a lifesaver! Her skin was a little bit dry and flaky but now it's gone plus her coat looks amazing!

Let's hope I can figure how to tone down her biting ugh!!!!

Still struggling

We are still struggling with the biting also. It is getting softer. Christos is in daycare several days a week so he is learning some bite inhibition thankfully. But he still thinks I am a chew toy and I will wrestle with him so long as he is gentle. he has not broken my skin in quite some time. LOL. Like you we have only had him about a month. He was born June 1st.

He is also learning from our two older Boxers and they are much more accepting of him. They even intervene at daycare if they feel another dog is getting too rough. The trainer said one of them will walk between our puppy and the other dog to separate them.

Ours also hates his collar and scratches at it. He also chews on his leash. We try to teach him to leave it/drop it but like you said he is obsessed with it. A company called Pet Edge has a leash that is laced with hot peppers inside to stop dogs from chewing on it. I am considering it. I know your can use Bitter Apple or Chew stop but that requires constant spraying. We had a Dalmation that loved hot peppers and lemons. Go figure. You never know.

In the meantime, we will continue with learning basic commands to leave it. It is both frustrating and adorable right now. Hopefully he will learn before it becomes annoying or expensive. Basic obedience is so important. And he is just a little sponge right now. At home and in public he is doing well with sit, down, stand, watch me and touch. I hope to be able to compete in something with this boy. I just dont know what yet. All I know is that I want it to be fun for both of us without the politics.

Cant wait for another update

HI! Our girl is shy 2 days from hitting 11 weeks. :) It's been interesting watching her grow up so fast! Her legs are starting to sprout and she definitely keeps us running.

You should try reading from this site here. I'm reading a little from The Culture Clash by Jean Donaldson and it's actually helping us. I haven't delved too much into it due to the craziness of the day :d

Or even this site has help tremendously. Puppy Bite Inhibition | Teach puppy not to bite

Teaching Bite Inhibition - Whole Dog Journal Article

Our pup is quite ADD, especially when I get home haha :) Best feeling to come home to her and just get kisses!

We have been using pea sized pieces of chicken breast & tiny pieces of freeze dried beef liver to train her and she actually responds better to these "good girl" treats lol unlike the biscuits. We used repetition over and over until we thought she had selective hearing lol

.....It's starting to pay off whhhheeeeew! We always have a squeaky toy on us and redirect or when she gets a bit too much we both lock ourselves in a room and talk loud but out of her reach. She hates us leaving her alone and the biting has toned down quite a bit compared to when we first brought her home.

The leash part we still have a bit of a problem with since we don't technically allow her on walks since she won't get her last set of shots next week. We leash train her in the backyard and she'll chew & pull hard on the leash but we've figured out if we distract her with treats (again- tiny tiny pieces of chicken breast/chopped up BLUE salmon treats/Freeze-dried liver) and make her do simple commands on walks, it makes it easier for all of us. She thinks she's getting rewarded a lot of "good girl" treats except they're TINY :) lol no upset stomach and do diarrhea everywhere!!

We have bitter apple and we use it on the bottom of our couches and it works really well! Oh and also on her training pads. She used to tear those things up but not any more :D

We're still working on leave it but our girl is just a mess because she thinks it's all a game for now......eventually right? Patience is the key!!

She now understand sit, stay, come, and up. :) hopefully we can start doing a bit more in the next few days!

hahah I was so afraid that she would love the bitter apple spray! Thankfully it didn't turn out that way!

If you have a facebook and would like to see a video of my little girl you are welcome to add me @ facebook.com/oanhis .

I haven't figured out to do videos on here yet so in due time!

Sounds like we're both in for a whirlwind of stuff while they hit their teenage years.
